Job Description
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team and consult with our Sales team to secure agreements for commercial and residential fencing projects. The Estimator will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate cost estimation, bid preparation, and client satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
- Project Evaluation: Assess project requirements and specifications to provide accurate cost estimates.
- Material and Labor Costs: Calculate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and any subcontracted work.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals for submission to clients.
- Vendor Relations: Source and negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, contracts, bids, and projects.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and provide updates.
- Risk Analysis: Identify and evaluate potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Meetings / Job Walks
- Review appointment notes for client insights.
- Arrive 5 minutes early for every appointment.
- Discuss clients' past experiences with fencing/construction.
- Identify client’s needs, wants, fears, and financial considerations.
- Ensure accurate client contact information.
- Follow the Structured Design Meeting process.
Writing Estimates
- Walk the fence line with the client.
- Check for other potential issues.
- Measure the new fence and document details.
- Create estimates and takeoffs with accurate measurements and item quantities using the software (Fence Cloud, Job Nimbus, Autodesk, Bluebeam, Google Sheets, Moasure, Microsoft 365, etc.).
- Set expectations regarding project timelines.
Follow Ups
- Follow up within 24 business hours.
- Maintain a follow-up schedule. • Highlight memorable details about each project.
- Discuss follow-up status in weekly meetings.
Pipeline Management
- Keep CRM notes accurate and timely.
- Organize deals and manage a balanced pipeline.
Administrative
- Communicate key project details with the admin team.
- Write split contracts and create project maps.
- Prepare detail submittals for project construction
- Assist with payments and project rollouts.
- Collaboratively work with project manager to ensure established profit and customer satisfaction metrics are met.
- Maintain and update a shared sales calendar.
Professionalism
- Maintain neat appearance and good hygiene.
- Wear company-provided shirts and appropriate attire.
- Ensure punctuality and proper care of company equipment.
- Contribute to process improvements.
Key Performance Indicators
- Maintain a closing ratio > 30%.
- Achieve a monthly average GP > 35%.
- Work a full-time 40-hour week.
Qualifications
- College Degree in Construction Management or 5 years of experience in the field.
- Minimum 2 years of consultative sales experience, a plus.
- Experience with commercial fencing, specifically government-associated fencing projects.
- Experience with mobile and online technology.
- Attention to detail and punctuality.
- Willingness to expand in skills, i.e. OSHA 10, trade certificates, attend industry seminars
- Pre-Hire drug screening
License/Certification
- Driver's License, with real ID (Required)
Schedule
- Weekdays, but some weekends may be required during busy seasons.
Work Location
- Hybrid- In person, remote and in the field.
