Estimator
Position Summary:
Appraises vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance and retail claim settlement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Examines damaged vehicles to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical or interior damage.
- Estimate cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
- Determine feasibility of repair vs. replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders and doors.
- Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
- Estimate cost of repainting, converting to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles.
- Review repair cost estimates with body shop manger or foreman.
- Schedule customer appointments.
- Track daily progress of jobs in process.
- Assist production manager in processing supplement claims.
- Prepare detailed supplements for additional parts and labor.
- Notify insurance company of any supplement needed.
- Prepare repair order documents for final invoicing checking parts, labor and materials charges.
- Calculate technician hours and flag timesheets.
- Complete daily cycle time work sheets.
- Utilize DMS system for customer updates and job tracking.
- Review daily progress of repairs and work with production manager and customer service representative updating customers when needed.
- Notify customers of any old damage found on vehicle that may not be accident related.
- Document repair order for mileage on vehicle in and out of shop.
- Maintains a professional attitude with co-workers, customers, vendors.
- Follows the dress code the company has put in place. Maintains a clean and neat work area. Keeps area free of debris.
- Follows federal, state and local law as well as company policy about safeguarding all information.
- Reports on time to work and follows schedule that is given. Calls supervisor if he/she cannot be at work on time.
- Keeps current with annual HR training along with any other training that might be required for this position.
- Follows all company policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of any illegal activity.
- At least 3 year(s) automotive collision experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of body repair methods
- Possess a good understanding of computerized estimating systems.
- Ability to deal effectively with customers, dealership personnel, and insurance adjusters.
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer skills is a plus
- Team oriented
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
