NAR is seeking a Estimator to join our growing Solar EPC team! The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants and clients with a true customer-centric focus. - Receives new project documents and evaluates their contents to understand the project systems, key scope elements and major factors for award
- Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, labor and material estimate for projects.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish a value for the work
- Prepare, distribute and manage request for quotes to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Build relationships to understand client, designer and subcontractor need and expectations.
- Assist with key internal/external stakeholders to complete design review, fulfill contract requirements, maintain project costs within estimate and meet customer needs.
- Prices scope and leverages local knowledge/precedent to develop competitive proposal for negotiation.
- Prepare scopes of work with qualifications, assumptions and exclusions for estimates.
- Review historical and buyout costs from construction team to further refine and increase accuracy of pricing models
- Prepare cost comparison with multiple subcontractors and suppliers for evaluation of costs.
- Schedule and hold bid review meetings with stakeholders prior to bid finalization/submittal.
- Create and provide detailed hand-off package to constructions teams.
- Attend pre-construction strategy meetings on approach to project/estimates.
- Assist in preparing responses to RFP's and RFQ's to customers.
- Attend walk throughs to become familiar with plans, elevations and site conditions.
- Research and recruit new subcontractors.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:
- Minimum 3yrs estimating experience in commercial electrical or civil construction.
- General understanding of commercial solar.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and bluebeam.
- Ability to read and understand civil & electrical drawings.
- Must be able to meet strict deadlines while managing and prioritizing task lists.
- Must possess high attention to detail.
- Must have ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
- Ability to generate RFI's through the bid process.
- Ability and confidence to be on calls with clients during bid / scope review.
- Ability and transportation to attend site visits to support the bidding process and the win work effort.
