About the Job
Responsible for ongoing assessment of inpatient and emergency room patients to include emergency mental status evaluations and dispositions recommendation assessments to identify appropriate resource utilization, discharge planning needs, mental health care needs and available related resources. Participates in the development of the interdisciplinary plan of care; and assists in assuring availability of needed resources. The Evaluates the appropriateness, timeliness, intensity, and cost-effectiveness of psychiatric services provided. These duties are performed on the inpatient unit as well as throughout the hospital and emergency department.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Nursing or closely aligned human services discipline.
Necessary Skills:
1. Ability to successfully complete CPI course training.
2. Ability to perform verbal and written communication.
3. Ability to communicate in English and to read and understand written English at the college level.
4. Ability to recognize emergencies and life threatening situations and respond appropriately.
5. Ability to make clinical decisions affecting the lives of clients.
6. Experience with application of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) and/or ICD-9-CM coding for mental health disorders preferred.
7. Computer literacy/Windows NT required; experience with HBOC/Star systems and/or Microsoft products preferred.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Crisis Prevention Institute training or Aggression Control training is required within ninety (90) days of date of hire or transfer, and annually thereafter, for the Psych Unit.
Preferred Licensure/Certifications:
LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, RNC.
Required Experience:
Three to five (3-5) years of Clinical experience with assessment of mental health issues.
Preferred Experience:
One to two (1-2) years experience with psychiatric, mental health, or substance abuse inpatient Case Management, mental health counseling or mental health assessment preferred.
