About The Position
The Events Sales & Marketing Manager will secure all private & special events sales and guide all marketing activities for Majordomo in Los Angeles, CA in partnership with the Regional Director of Catering and Events (RDCE). The responsibilities will include but not be limited to meeting all quarterly & annual sales goals, working alongside the Executive Chef, General Manager, and Beverage Manager to maximize event sales while exceeding client expectations and developing and supporting relationships with clients & guests.
Responsibilities
EVENT SALES (50% of time)
- Actively develop and manage relationships with private event clientele and promote Majordomos‘s private event program to the community meeting monthly outreach metrics as outlined by the RDCE
- Work with Chefs and Beverage Managers to create competitive and attractive private event menus and offerings
- Serve as main point of contact for private event clients and communicate client needs to chefs and managers to ensure the successful execution of private events, offsite events, large group dining, and buyouts.
- In partnership with the RDCE, Marketing, and PR departments, develop and maintain outward facing private event-specific materials (website, printed materials, menus, social media)
- Manage all aspects of private event sales, from fielding inquiries, site visits and client meetings, to developing proposals, negotiating contracts and confirming payment.
- In partnership with the RDCE, manage event-related finances, including pricing, sales goals, costing, client deposits, and payments to maximize profitability
- Monitor monthly and quarterly event sales goals; communicate and evaluate progress against these goals with the RDCE to ensure short term and long term success
EVENT SUPERVISION (20%)
- Supervise execution of Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) for all buyouts, private dining events, and large groups of 20 or more guests. For large groups of up to 19 guests, the Events Manager must effectively communicate floor plan, menu, and payment information to all pertinent managers in advance.
- In partnership with the RDCE, chefs, and managers, strategically schedule themselves onsite for events to maximize guest satisfaction and develop repeat business. When present, utilize interpersonal and relationship management skills to ensure the client has a first class experience to maximize future business.
- In partnership with chefs and managers, identify and procure any additional equipment or serviceware needed through third party vendors.
HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL OFFERINGS (15% of time)
- In partnership with the RDCE, Director of Brand Partnerships, Marketing, and PR, plan, coordinate, and execute special events & holiday offerings for Majordomo, including holiday-specific events, guest chef events, ticketed events, and off-site public-facing events
- Serve as the main point of contact between outside special event partners and Momofuku
- Execute marketing/promotional campaigns for all Majordomo special events with the PR team and assist with special event social media initiatives
MARKETING & PUBLIC RELATIONS (15%)
- In partnership with the RDCE, create and execute a yearly marketing and outreach plan targeted towards Los Angeles markets
- Under the direction of Marketing and PR, facilitate press opportunities for Majordomo, including photo and video shoots
- Work with the RDCE and Director of Brand Partnerships to manage charity donations and philanthropic partnerships
- Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with local businesses, cultural institutions, and other key stakeholders to maximize long term sales
Skills & Requirements
- BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 3+ years of related experience required
- 1+ years of supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity in the LA community, network, and strong understanding of LA-specific markets highly preferred
- Ability to work independently and to handle multiple priorities & activities
- Relationship management skills that allow for positive relationships with employees and managers of all levels within the organization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop professional relationships with current or future clients.
Physical Demands
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds, sitting for 4 to 8 hours, standing, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
