Events Manager -Kent Station and Sunrise Village
Kent Station and Sunrise Village collectively make up over 650,000 square feet of retail and mixed-use building space located in the historic area of downtown Kent and the South Hill neighborhood of Puyallup. The position is located on-site at Kent Station and Sunrise Village.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Events Manager role offers an exciting opportunity to strategize, plan, and execute events that engage the local community and drive traffic to Kent Station and Sunrise Village. You will collaborate with tenants, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver creative and organized events that amplify brand visibility while enhancing customer and tenant satisfaction. This position oversees all aspects of event planning, from budgeting and logistics to working on marketing elements. Ideal candidates will bring a passion for event planning, expertise in leading teams, and strong budget management skills.
Event Development, Coordination, Execution and Budgeting
- Develop creative and innovative events to drive traffic at Kent Station and Sunrise Village.
- Prepares and manages the annual budget for Kent Station and Sunrise Village events.
- Reconciles event revenues and expenses, providing quarterly budget and performance updates.
- Ensures organized event execution by managing all pre-event and day-of logistics.
- Develops and implements revenue-generating strategies while keeping expenses within budget.
- Obtains competitive bids and ensures service standards for event-related vendors.
- Build on existing and seek new event sponsorship relationships at both projects.
- Works with the Contract Manager to execute contracts with performers, sponsors, and vendors.
- Collaborates with the General Manager for approval of marketing materials and press releases.
Marketing and Promotion
- Oversees the creation of promotional materials and social media content for all events at Kent Station and Sunrise Village.
- Works with in-house marketing department on all marketing-related tasks at Kent Station and Sunrise Village in a timely manner and manages the annual events calendar.
- Assists with monitoring and posting on social media platforms when needed.
- Provide website and tenant updates to the marketing team.
- Coordinates professional photography for all events.
Vendor and Staff Management
- Trains and supervises in-house and external vendors for successful event execution.
- Maintains event and marketing supplies for Kent Station and Sunrise Village.
- Review competitor events and market research to adjust strategies accordingly.
Risk and Stakeholder Management
- Ensures all events comply with established risk management plans in collaboration with the Safety Manager.
- Resolves tenant, customer, and sponsor concerns related to events.
Community and Tenant Relations
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with the local community, government stakeholders, and tenants at both Sunrise Village and Kent Station.
- Monitors tenant performance and satisfaction, collaborating with the General Manager to develop and report on annual tenant satisfaction surveys.
- Implements a tenant retention program, including gifts and appreciation events.
- Collects and tracks monthly tenant sales data for General Manager review.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of marketing or event planning experience in retail environments, or equivalent venues.
- At least 3 years in a senior events role and overseeing marketing programs.
- Proven success in planning events, managing budgets, leading teams, and executing creative strategies.
- Working knowledge of risk management matters to identify potential legal liabilities and take steps to mitigate them.
- Excellent networking skills to foster vendor relationships and attract customers.
- Effective team leadership with clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and administrative abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Commitment to high-quality customer service and adherence to Company Brand Guidelines.

- Ability to travel between Kent Station and Sunrise Village.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Nature of work requires an ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents operating standard business office equipment.
- Ability to set up and break down on-site events, including but not limited to chairs, tables, and tents, up to a maximum of 25 lbs.
