Job Title: Events & Programs Intern
Reports to: Director of Investor Relations & Events, Events & Programs Manager
FLSA Status: Part-time (24-28 hours), Non-exempt (hourly)
Schedule: Monday – Friday (Flexible hours), Currently Hybrid (subject to change)
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Investor Relations & Events and the Events & Programs Manager, the Events & Programs Intern will assist with a variety of tasks relating to event planning, event management, and member relations for the Downtown San Diego Partnership. We are looking for a detail-oriented, creative, highly motivated intern to work with us on several upcoming signature events, mixers and member-related initiatives for the organization. A successful intern will have general hospitality experience and a desire to learn more about the scope of planning an event from start to finish.
Essential Job Functions & Duties
Events & Programs: 80%

Assist the Events & Programs Manager with the planning, preparation and execution of all Signature Events, Member Mixers and Downtown Community Events, including supporting with day of event logistics.

Monitor and organize event registration reports via the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform to track registration throughout the event planning process.

Assist with managing the back end of the Membership & Event pages on the website – uploading member logos, updating event details, etc.

Support with the creation of e-blasts/solicitations to membership regarding upcoming events and programs.
Administrative: 20%

Support the Membership & Events department with a variety of membership related tasks – preparation of monthly membership updates, tracking member attendance and engagement at events & meetings, updating the member roster, etc.

Provide support for bimonthly Board of Directors meetings – venue set-up, organizing name badges, assisting with check-in

Support with administrative tasks as needed to keep projects running smoothly.

Adhere to all of the DSDP policies and procedures.

Use company telephones, computers, and software solely for business purposes.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

High school diploma or GED. BA in Hospitality, Communications, Meeting
& Event Planning, Business Management, or similar field of study (students currently pursuing these areas of study strongly encouraged to apply)

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook, Zoom

Proficient in a variety of graphic design software’s (Canva, Wordpress, Constant Contact)

Quick learner, detail-oriented, and excellent communication skills (written & verbal)

Ability to navigate meetings with stakeholders via Zoom and various electronic platforms

Ability to read and write in English; bilingual or multilingual a plus

Ability to use a telephone and computer for data collection and research

This is a part-time non- exempt (hourly) position. The starting rate for this position is $18 per hour. This position is contingent on successfully passing a background check. DSDP is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.

The Downtown San Diego Partnership (DSDP) is a nonprofit organization that serves as the principal voice and driving force behind the economic prosperity and cultural vitality of Downtown San Diego through membership, advocacy, public services, and community investment. The organization’s nearly 300 members, representing a variety of business sectors including real estate, technology, banking, law, defense, insurance, communications, energy, and tourism are committed to nurturing a Downtown that benefits the entire San Diego region.
