Core Accountabilities: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Exceptional Children (EC) Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, a commitment to meeting the unique needs of students with disabilities, and the ability to provide personalized support and instruction. As an EC Teaching Assistant at our charter school, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, collaborating with colleagues, and fostering a culture of inclusion and acceptance.
Key Outputs/Results:
- Assist in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, in collaboration with parents/guardians, school administrators, and support staff.
- Assist the teacher in instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in both inclusive and pull-out settings, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
- Differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students' individual learning styles, strengths, and challenges.
- Utilize a variety of instructional materials, assistive technologies, and interventions to enhance student engagement and academic achievement.
- Assist the teacher if necessary, in conducting assessments of student progress and adjust instruction and support services accordingly, maintaining accurate records of student performance and growth.
- Assist general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to supporting students' academic and social-emotional needs.
- Assist in ongoing communication and support to parents/guardians regarding their child's progress, goals, and needs, facilitating partnerships between home and school.
- Stay current on best practices in special education, relevant laws and regulations, and evidence-based interventions through professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
- Assist the teacher in fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Educational Experience:
- Associate or bachelor's degree
- Previous teaching assistant experience working with exceptional children is a plus
