The University of Kansas Libraries (KU Libraries) seeks an experienced, collaborative leader to serve as Executive Director of Fiscal Services. This role is responsible for overseeing a $22.7M budget plus $27.1M in endowment holdings for the KU Libraries that includes six public-access libraries and an off-site storage facility that serve the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. The Director leads the development of strategic fiscal initiatives to support the Libraries' mission and oversees the management of fiscal operations.
Reporting directly to the Dean of Libraries, the Executive Director manages all fiscal resources for KU Libraries, including operations, collections, funding for human resources and endowment funds. This individual is a member of and collaborates closely with the Libraries Leadership Team, playing a critical role in budget planning and execution to advance the Libraries strategic initiatives and foster fiscal accountability, transparency, and a culture of continuous innovation. As a key member of the Libraries budget committee, the Director leads fiscal management, procurement activities, and long-range financial planning, advises on efficient approaches to income and expenditures, and engages with the team in collaborative budgetary decision-making.
The Director is responsible for analyzing, reporting, and communicating complex financial data, collaborating with unit leaders to optimize financial resources in alignment with university and organization goals. The Director provides financial guidance to the Libraries Dean, four Associate Deans, and other members of the Leadership Team on the optimal leveraging of Libraries resources and the development of sound financial policy.
This role involves regular coordination with administrative units across KU, including HR, Budget, Facilities, IT, KUEA and the Office of the Provost. The Director represents the Libraries on internal and external fiscal affairs, acting as an expert resource.
