Responsibilities:Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Pharmacy (EDP) is an executive leader in the Pharmacy Enterprise that provides assistance to the Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) in the development and implementation of strategic plans for the continual growth and efficient operation of multiple pharmacy service areas, under his or her leadership. This position involves design and administration of policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with State, Federal, and University rules and regulations, advance pharmacy practice, and enhance patient care. The EDP will develop and oversee the implementation of standardized, best practices across multiple pharmacy sites, establish programs with pharmacy leaders to ensure staff competence and maintenance of current knowledge, assist the CPO in development and oversight of the Pharmacy budget, including capital planning, ensuring the judicious use of human, financial, and physical resources. The EDP will develop and optimize medication management processes and clinical pharmacy programs across the pharmacy enterprise. The EDP will promote and foster a culture of safety and pursue the improved use of medications and reduction of potential medication-related events. The EDP will lead change and participate with Pharmacy Leadership to develop short- and long-term strategies that support goals of the department and of the organization. The EDP represents Pharmacy on cross-functional committees and in the industry. The EDP will possess broad-level knowledge and experience in health-system pharmacy practice and will provide mentorship to support employees in their professional development. This position requires occasional travel to various sites to oversee and support clinical pharmacy services across the UCI Health pharmacy enterprise.

Required Qualifications:
- Strategic vision for advancing pharmacy practice.
- Minimum seven years of Pharmacy leadership experience, including hospital or health-systems pharmacy practice and management
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree
- Financial management and analysis skills consistent with budgetary responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills
- Demonstrated professional progression in leadership roles.
- Current BLS or ACLS certification
- CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing
- Ability to use computerized systems, applications such as Microsoft Office, medication and safety technologies.
- Ability to read and correctly interpret complex regulations, contracts, and policies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of sterile compounding, USP795/797/800
- Successful completion of PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in Health Management
- Successful completion of PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency
- Previous experience in an academic medical center or large health-system is preferred.
- Knowledge of 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Advanced degree in management or business
