PRIMARY DUTY
Plan, direct and coordinate the overall operation of the community, both internal and external, to comply with local, state, and federal guidelines, provide excellent care to residents, promote job satisfaction among all associates and increase/maintain community census.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Responsible for ensuring that community is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Ensures compliance with Department of Health Regulations.
• Prepares the Plan of Correction for all government surveys.
• Monitors community compliance with Residents’ Rights.
• Ensures integrity and proper regulatory maintenance of agency records, reports, and resident records.
• Develops, establishes, and maintains resident census at optimal levels.
• Assures the overall needs of the residents are met.
• Daily rounds throughout the community to assure from a first-hand observation that an optimum level of resident care is provided, the environment is being maintained in a safe and sanitary fashion, systems are in place, and associates are appropriately attired and receive appropriate supervision.
• Direction of therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitative programs as necessary to meet the medical and psychosocial needs of residents.
• Assures that the provision of laundry, barber, beautician, and other services are provided to contribute to the quality of resident life in the community.
• Monitoring physical assets of the community to ensure they are maintained in good condition and material and supply inventories are maintained at appropriate levels.
• Conducts and administers fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services, payroll and coordinating financial reporting.
• Ensures that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted to appropriate departments in accordance with community policy.
• Works with the Director of Operations to prepare an annual operating and capital budget.
• Achieves, at the very minimum, budgeted earnings expectations.
• Authorizes the purchases of major equipment or routine supplies as authorized by Director of Operations and in accordance with community policies and procedures.
• Directs and/or delegates Public Relations and Marketing for the community.
• Maintains an effective community relations program and promotes a positive reputation to serve the best interest of the community, community, and internal/external customers.
• Represents the community in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies, third party vendors and service clubs (i.e. Rotary and local Chamber of Commerce) or provides an authorized representative of the community when unable to attend such meetings.
• Maintains arrangements with referral agencies.
• Directs, delegates and ensures the implementation of written policies and procedures that reflect the goals and objectives of the community and governing bodies (including: Patient Care, Human Resources, Operations Policy and Procedures). Understands and reviews the community’s policies and procedures on a regular basis.
• Communicates the established policies and procedures to all residents, personnel and other parties as needed.
• Responsible for human resource related activities, including recruitment, employment of qualified staff, termination, assignment and evaluation of staff, associate relations, and in-service/continuing education.
• Provides a working environment that promotes respect and dignity.
• Meets with department supervisors on a weekly basis (at minimum) to review interdepartmental and any other pertinent resident and/or environmental issues.
• Conducts routine meetings, such as daily “stand-up”, quality assurance, safety and other meetings as directed.
• Assists Community Relations Director/Leasing Director with community tours as necessary.
• On-call and Weekend Manager duties may be required as directed by the Director of Operations.
• Reports any issues or problems that may arise to the Director of Operations.
• Complies with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safety standards.
• Assists families and other visitors as needed.
• Attends in-services and other required meetings.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Operations.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS of this position are generally as follows:
• Oversees the activities of all departments in the community to ensure community goals and standards are met; directly manages department supervisors and administrative associates, indirectly supervises all other associates.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and terminating associates.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a Healthcare/Gerontology related field
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a health service administration role and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must meet all regulatory requirements (i.e. licensure, etc.) for an Executive Director as set forth by the state in which the community is operating in.
