About the Job
The Executive Director of Technology & Innovation provides leadership for application development and manages the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Cornerstone University's next generation software infrastructure, interconnected digital systems, and customer facing applications (web, iOS, Android). This leader will hire and develop a team as needed. The core of Cornerstone University is defined and driven by its Christ-centered mission and Biblical confession.
- CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, Salaried
- REPORTS TO: Vice President for Strategic Academic Innovation
- LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite, or hybrid remote)
- SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $110,000/year
- Candidates will be asked if they are eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hire and lead development teams by providing technical expertise and strategic direction.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee activities related to application design, development, and implementation

Develop and manage teams (internal and outsourced) supporting different products or lines of business

Initiate and prioritize project requests and timelines, to meet deadlines and stay within budget

Guide internal and external teams to deliver on intended business value

Develop and enforce best practices and technology standards across the organization

Collaborate with leadership on strategic direction for systems and technical architecture

Oversee the complete development lifecycle of software systems, including requirements gathering, database management, testing, and support

Manage the integrity and changes to application development servers and databases

Evaluate emerging technologies and align them with business goals

Manage relationships with vendors and external partners

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred)

5+ years of managerial experience
-
10-15+ years of software engineering experience

Demonstrated success in building teams and effective hiring
-
Demonstrated success in bringing consumer facing and emerging technologies to market

Strong knowledge of service-oriented architecture and design patterns

Success with enterprise solution deployments

Expertise in SQL, ORM, DevOps, cloud infrastructure and other technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS, SwiftUI, Compose, Vue.Js, Typescript and .NET)

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Experience with Agile project management methodologies

Proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions and initiatives from concept to delivery
