- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of dysrhythmias and 12 lead EKG interpretation. Bachelors Degree which includes completed course work in exercise physiology, both normal and in diseased states; exercise training of cardiac and pulmonary patients; exercise treating to include the use of a Metabolic Measurement Care; EKG interpretation; coronary artery disease and heart disease in general; pulmonary disease. Certification as Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine preferred. ACLS is required, 90 days if previous, 180 days if new certification. One-year of experience in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and exercise leadership. Current CPR certification is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Basic reading and math skills. Clerical, record keeping, medical terminology and basic patient care skills, CPR, knowledge of regulatory standards, safety and infection control, and hospital procedures. Basic interpersonal skills. Effective communication and telephone etiquette, and the ability to function productively and cooperatively as part of a team. Exhibit excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers. Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect at all times.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS- Ability to comply with department specific controls implemented to reduce the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections within the Healthcare setting.
- These controls may include but are not limited to, immunity to certain vaccine preventable disease, screening for tuberculosis infection or disease, the ability to utilize indicated personal protective equipment and attendance at appropriate training.
- Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
