Job Title: Asphalt Roller Operator - Night Shift
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Asphalt Roller Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating asphalt compaction equipment, an understanding of paving processes, and a commitment to safety and quality. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the even distribution and compaction of asphalt on roads, highways, and other surfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Asphalt Roller Equipment: Efficiently operate various types of rollers (pneumatic, static steel, and vibratory) to compact and smooth hot-mix asphalt on highways, roads, parking lots, and other surfaces.
- Surface Quality Control: Ensure consistent and even compaction and smoothness across the asphalt surface, adjusting machine settings and techniques as needed for optimal results.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform pre-operational inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
- Communication: Work closely with the paving crew to understand job requirements, changes in material needs, and other operational adjustments.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all site-specific and OSHA safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and monitoring for hazards around the equipment.
- Documentation: Complete daily logbooks and other relevant paperwork to record activities, machine hours, and any operational or safety issues.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of asphalt roller operation experience.
- Skills: Ability to operate various types of rollers with precision; knowledge of material properties, compaction techniques, and safety protocols.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in high-temperature environments, stand for extended periods, and handle the physical demands of the role.
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work effectively with paving crews and communicate clearly.
