As the Experienced Electronics Maintenance Technician, you will be on a dynamic team responsible for the maintenance and operation of the South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF) at our customer site in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our national security.
Serco supports the US Navy’s SFOMF in Ocean Testing and Waterfront Operations including support for data acquisition systems, offshore test ranges, underwater sensors, underwater infrastructure, shore based sensors and systems, boats, vehicles, equipment shelters, weight handling equipment (WHE), observation towers, and tracking systems for SFOMF Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) activities.
You will be part of a 7-10 -member team that works closely with the customer to deliver services, and logistics support required to conduct RDT&E trials, operations and system installations and maintenance in support of SFOMF, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), the Navy, and other DoD projects locally within the South Florida area of operations (AOR). The team has been supporting SFOMF for over 5 years and has been recognized by both the Navy for their outstanding contributions.
In this role, you will:
- Perform engineering computations, manually or using automated analysis programs (e.g., propagation, intermodulation, and frequency assignment).
- Perform calculations using formulas or concepts of algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or statistics.
- Collect technical data from appropriate documentation (e.g., technical manuals and internal and external reports), automated files, and other staff.
- Determine and interpret equipment characteristics data, performs necessary analysis, and transcribes to required formats.
- Assist engineers in moderately technical aspects of project work.
- Acquire a working knowledge of the SFOMF databases and of the types of information stored in each file.
- Design and develop engineering sketches, drawings, graphs, slides, and charts for preliminary or final reports or briefings.
- Assist in the training of less experienced staff.
- Assist in the preparation of appropriate technical documentation.
- As required, verbally present information at project review sessions and in informal interface with customers.
- Comply with security procedures in the performance of duties.
To be successful in this roll, you will have:
- Active DOD Secret Clearance.
- US Citizenship
- High School Diploma/GED
- 10 years of experience (experience with the Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of both shipboard and shore side electrical circuits, conduits, data circuits, jacks, lighting, and electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, distribution panels, circuit breakers highly preferred).
- Must be licensed or ability to get licensed.
- Knowledge of electrical code.
- Experience in the use of a variety of hand tools, power tools, testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, circuit and electrical plans.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Electrician experience
- Proficiency in technical writing
- Proficiency with MS-Office software to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Power Point.
