To excel in this role you should have (Minium Required Qualifications):
- 5 7 years previous experience in heavy civil project management, project coordination, field management, and/or bidding, estimating; Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree may substitute for experience.
- Thorough knowledge of heavy civil construction through a combination of field and office experience including but not limited to utilities (wet), excavation & dirt work, asphalt paving.
- The ability to effectively organize, coordinate, and manage multiple projects at a time from start to finish, and provide effective communication to key parties at all stages.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills when interacting with both internal and external customers.
- A commitment to safety, performance, and adherence to OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and all other company or state rules and regulations.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Windows based programs and estimating software
- The ability to work independently without direct supervision, a willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed, and travel as needed outside of home office area to project locations
- A valid driver's license, the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and current US Authorization to work, or the ability to obtain prior to start without company assistance.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Provides estimating costing and submission of bids on all projects (i.e. public/private) as directed by the Construction Manager and/or Chief Estimator. This involves thorough review of bid documents, collection of subcontractor prices and prompt submission of the bid. Coordination of bid evaluations should be based on review with the Construction Manager and/or Chief Estimator.
- On successful bids, the project manager should prepare and submit all contract documents and insure they are properly executed.
- Oversee subcontracts and sub-contractor coordination.
- Manage project schedules, material requests and approvals.
- Coordinate project specific training, safety and EEOC compliance.
- Attend pre-construction conferences with the Production Department and/or owner.
- Collaborate with Construction Manager, other Project Managers, superintendents, and contract administrators.
- Prepare and approve monthly pay estimates from owner and sub-contractors, and ensure accuracy of pay estimates.
- Assure accuracy of sub-contractor submittals and coordination of work.
- Coordination with owners on timing of work and proper completion.
- Negotiate all contracts change orders in writing prior to the work being accomplished.
- Respond timely to all owner and sub-contractor correspondence.
- Approve all subcontractor/supplier invoices.
- Maintain daily project logs/quantity records.
- Monitor job costs.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- May work in the field, delivering supplies or assisting the work crews.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular and timely attendance.
