Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong love for animals, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced veterinary environment. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians, gaining valuable hands-on experience in all aspects of animal care.
A Day in the Life:
- Responsibilities:
- Patient Care and Medical Support:
- Assist veterinarians with patient examinations, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Perform various laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and diagnostic imaging.
- Nursing and Rehabilitation:
- Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients
- Educate pet owners on post-operative care, medication administration, and disease management.
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment:
- Maintain diagnostic lab equipment and assist in running labwork.
- Client Interaction and Education:
- Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans, providing updates on patient status, and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition, and proper handling techniques.
- Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories.
- Ensure timely and complete documentation in accordance with veterinary standards.
- Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to kennel assistants and other team members.
- Patient Care and Medical Support:
Skills & Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or animal care facility
- Strong passion for working with animals and providing exceptional care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced professionals
- Physically fit to handle animals of all sizes up to 50lbs.

Compensation: $16.00-$22.00 an hour to commensurate with experience.
