Job Overview
The Expeditor, or Food Runner, is responsible for delivering food to members’ tables quickly and accurately. Expo serves as the primary link between the culinary team and the service staff. The Expo receives foodservice tickets, assembles the items, garnishes, inspects for accuracy, and delivers the food to the table. This position requires no previous experience and is a great opportunity to work in the hub of the restaurant industry: learning both sides of the business, and managing the operation from within.
Reports To: Food and Beverage Manager
Compensation: $10 per hour plus tip out.
Education/Experience: No experience required.

- Job Tasks/Duties
- Reports to the kitchen and sets up their station, including garnishes, sauces, and tools.
- Informs the culinary team if anything is low or needs to be remade.
- Reads tickets as they come into the kitchen and assembles tickets accurately.
- Pays attention to detail and helps ensure quality.
- Double checks that food was prepared to server specifications and club standards.
- Arranges food on a tray and carries to the dining areas.
- Understands table numbers, seat numbers and pivot points.
- Delivers food to the correct member using seat numbers, without having to announce the items.
- Pauses after delivery to ensure that members do not need anything else.
- Communicates any issues to the server, manager, and culinary team.
- Promptly moves to correct or deliver anything missing.
- Uses “full hands” to help remove dirty dishes from the dining room and returns to the kitchen.
- Communicates effectively with both culinary and service teams.
- Maintains cleanliness throughout their shift, washing their hands regularly and after touching anything that is dirty.
- Sets up and breaks down buffets at the direction of the culinary team.
- Provides the correct utensils for buffets and assists with replenishing items, as needed.
- Regularly cleans buffets, as well as buffet equipment.
- Details their station at the end of the evening.
- Develop proficiency in Club policies and standards.
- Assists with service of food and beverages in outlets and for special functions when needed.
- Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
- Coordinates any special requests including dietary needs and allergens with the culinary team.
- Takes responsibility for mistakes and moves to correct them in an open and honest fashion.
- Displays a passion for service and enthusiasm for excellence amongst the team.
- Completes other appropriate assignments made by Club leadership.
- Moves between operations as needed, including the Overlook Bar & Grill during pool season.
- Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
