The Extrusion Operator IV will be responsible for proficiently operating equipment related to production of extruded polystyrene foam sheet.
Essential Job Duties:
- Sets up, operates and maintains extruders, grinders, pelletizers, and all support equipment.
- Diagnoses all operational and quality problems and makes necessary machine adjustments to correct.
- Knows all technical and departmental terminology.
- Trains other departmental personnel.
- Interprets SPC data and makes process improvements.
- Follows and participates in plant safety/housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
- Remains compliant with SQF / HACCP requirements as per this location’s written “Food Safety & Quality Policy”
Qualifications, Education and Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 2 years of related training and/or experience and successful completion of Extrusion Operator I, II, and III Skills Assessment.
Certificates, License, Registrations:
- OSHA approved Clamp Truck Certification
- CPR and first-aid Certified
- Certificate of Training for Process Safety Management
- Certificate of Training for Fall Restraint System
- May be required to participate in Fire Brigade

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to print simple sentences and legibly complete reports and time cards. Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
Mathematical Skills/Equipment: Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
