The F-35 Weapons Integrated Product Team (WIPT) Weapons Manager serves as an advisor for activities related to Weapons Supportability, Production, Sustainment and Integration by supporting F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) basing operations at the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) WIPT, Eglin AFB, Florida. In this capacity the Weapons Manager coordinates with F-35 JPO Production Planning Branch IPTs to ensure all Aircraft Armament Equipment (AAE) procurement requirements are satisfied.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead Product Manager to develop Alternate Mission Equipment (AME) contracted Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) Armament Equipment lists for all F-35 US Services, Partner and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Countries.
Assesses and advises on Country-specific Common and Unique Armament Weapons Support Equipment (AWSE) lists to ensure currency, accuracy and fielding of equipment to support F-35 JSF mission requirements and operational logistical deployment footprints.
Evaluates and informs the F-35 Weapons Branch IPT and Site Activation/Integration IPT, as applicable, on contractor hardware concepts and designs as they apply to ship/shore suitability, maintainability and practical employment in the field.
Manage AME requirements of US Navy Warship alterations needed to support global F-35 air superiority operations.
Supports F-35 Site Activation and Integration activities associated with Aviation Ordnance and the F-35 Armament Systems.
Interfaces and reviews current support system configurations and provides input to Lockheed Martin (LM) Aeronautics Supplier Contractors on modifications or additional capabilities required for F-35 US Services, Partners and FMS Countries to operate in diverse, multiple operational environments.
Evaluates technical and engineering data to incorporate into F-35 Weapons Joint Technical Data in accordance with F-35 JPO and LM Aeronautics Company Program Instructions.
Authors directive documentation related to sustainment of AME. Reports to the JSF Weapons IPT, Weapons Armament Lead.
Evaluates and authors contractor role in F-35 weapon systems Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for US Services to procure, distribute, maintain and support F-35 AME, as required.
Provide briefings to multiple echelons of leadership across all US Services, F-35 partners, F-35 FMS customers and F-35 JPO personnel.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain program security clearances throughout employment.
Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years practical experience in aircraft weapons/armament or weapons equipment acquisition experience; or HS diploma with 20+ years of similar experience.
Practical experience in weapons and systems test – preferably in the fighter aircraft community.
Practical experience determining operational suitability, maintainability and effectiveness of AME as it relates to the F-35 operational environment.
Technical background experience with Aircraft Weapons/Armament and Weapons-related equipment.
Travel:
Travel may be required supporting recurring meetings and other events that are best supported in person away from the normal duty location. Expected travel schedule is 1-2 trips / quarter at 3-5 days each. OCONUS travel may be necessary at times.
