We are seeking a Fabrication Shop Operations Manager for one of our key clients located in Bartow, Florida – an industrial maintenance company that's expanding, offering opportunities for growth and exciting long-term career prospects. This role oversees all aspects of the fabrication shop, including planning, coordinating, and executing fabrication and rigging activities. It also involves managing a team, ensuring quality workmanship, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement in shop operations. The manager will work closely with the shop team, including drafters and foremen, to align project timelines with the shop's workload and maintain profitability throughout the estimation and fabrication processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and administer operations of work crews, planning and executing fabrication and rigging activities in alignment with project scope and procedures.
- Act as an interface between Piping Designers, Construction Supervisors, and Fabricators to review and address issues regarding IFC drawings.
- Lead and supervise fabrication teams in the shop and on client sites, optimizing resources.
- Prepare and review cost estimates for custom fabrication projects, collaborating with team members to align project timelines with shop capacity.
- Manage compliance with QA/QC and safety procedures by performing fabrication assurance surveillances, completing necessary documentation, and enforcing regulations with the team.
- Support hiring and training new employees and inspire and motivate others to work efficiently and accept feedback.
- Identify and implement improvements in fabrication workflow, actively participating in team meetings and adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Complete necessary documentation and reporting, provide schedule updates, and prevent wastage of equipment, materials, and tools.
- Coordinate activities with other departments, build strong relationships, and communicate effectively to give clear instructions.
- Perform other related job functions as required.
- Direct reports will include the shop manager, senior drafter, transportation lead, toolroom, and yard lead.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding for stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel, and exotic metals.
- Proficient in operating fabrication shop equipment such as press brakes, plate shears, ironworkers, and plasma tables.
- Competent in reading and understanding specifications, drawings, and all other discipline-related project and engineering documentation.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to Command respect of the workforce and build relationships across a wide range of professional levels.
- Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-performance work environment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and clients.
- Demonstrated ability to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess good organizational skills and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Ability to pass a drug screening, background check, and safety council courses.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to client sites.
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- $125,000 - $140,000 salary plus annual performance bonuses.
