Essential Functions
- Be able to identify by sight and give the proper description of the component items used and/or manufactured.
- Be able to read, understand, and manufacture component parts in accordance with production drawings provided.
- Be able to properly set-up, operate, and perform routine operator maintenance on special jigs provided for the manufacture of component parts.
- Be able to safely and skillfully set-up, operate, and perform routine operator maintenance on the following:
- Milling Machine
- Drill Press
- Hand hole Drilling and Tapping Machine
- Vertical Band Saw
- Horizontal Band Saw
- Back Stand Grinder
- Tube Bender
- 2-3/8" Diameter Tube Deburrer
- 2-3/8" Diameter Tube Notcher
- Tapping Gun
- Be able to properly inventory processed component parts used and/or manufactured.
- Be able to use and properly care for the following:
- Veneer Caliper
- Ball Micrometer
- Pitch Micrometer
- PI Tape
- Tape Measure
- Combination Square
- Level
- Bullhorn Arm Go-No go Gauge.
- Other duties as required and/or assigned.
Important Details about the Role
- The employee is responsible for own work.
- Must be able to work with other employees to complete job.
- Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty.
- Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery.
- The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer.
- The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, TME (total manufacturing expenses), and customer satisfaction.
- This position reports to the Shift Lead.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
- The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
- The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions .
- The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.
- One (1) to three (3) years machine shop experience.
- Operation of CNC Equipment is not required, but preferred.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds.
- Read blueprints.
- Ability to use tape measure.
- Ability to be Valmont trained and certified in operation of forklift.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations.
- Maintain a safe and productive working environment.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Be knowledgeable in the use of general safety equipment and specific safety equipment relating to machine shop and anchor bolt operations
- Three (3) to five (5) years of previous experience in a machine shop.
- The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
Educational Background
- Able to do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and fraction conversion)
- Able to read and comprehend routings and blueprints
- Able to use a tape measure
- Able to use a computer to enter production date, perform time keeping functions, interface with machines and other equipment
