Job Summary:
The Distribution Center Shipping Clerk plays a vital role in the smooth operation of a distribution center by ensuring timely shipment of orders as well as maintaining and updating key documents and trackers for operational management. This position involves various tasks related to the shipping process, including but not limited to preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and organizing shipments for outbound delivery. The Shipping Clerk works closely with other warehouse personnel, such as outbound leadership and inventory specialists, to maintain efficient workflows and meet leadership requests.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Communicate with internal departments such as receiving, inventory, and customer service to address shipping-related inquiries, resolve issues, and provide shipment status updates.
+ Maintain organized records of various trackers including the audit tracker, spreadsheets, & other reporting documents viewed by middle and upper management.
+ Assist in the preparation of shipping reports and analysis to monitor performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and optimize shipping processes.
+ Operate shipping equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently, adhering to workplace safety guidelines.
+ Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas and shipping docks.
+ Inspect outgoing shipments to verify accuracy and completeness of orders, including proper packaging and labeling.
+ Coordinate with carrier to schedule pickups and deliveries and track shipments to ensure timely delivery for customers.
+ Prepare and process shipping documentation accurately including bills of lading, shipping labels, and export paperwork, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
+ Maintain will call orders and their timely pickup by will call customers.
+ Support colleagues when needed across the shipping department including but not limited to order assigning, auditing, shipping, and any additional needed support in the shipping department.
Core Skills:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Proven experience in a similar role within a distribution center or warehouse environment.
+ Proficiency in using shipping software and computer systems for generating shipping documents and tracking shipments.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks such as data entry and record keeping.
+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and external partners.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment safely.
+ Knowledge of inventory management systems and warehouse software.
+ Familiarity with safety regulations and practices.
+ Flexibility in work hours to meet operational needs.
+ Proficient in MS Office products.
