Job Summery:
The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment and machinery, with a focus on electrical, pneumatic, and robotic equipment. Diagnose and trouble shoot problems, dismantle/reassemble machines, replace defective parts, and makes necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation.
This position requires a broad technical knowledge of electromechanical principles and good working knowledge of manufacturing machines and processes. A majority of time spent will be addressing emergency equipment repairs, assisting with complex changeovers, and completing PMs.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical components (electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical), PLC and HMI Systems.
- Performs preventive maintenance on production equipment and assists with PM scheduling
- Promptly notifies the appropriate resources (internal and external) in the event major repairs to equipment or facilities are needed and provides accurate communication/documentation to assist in the repair.
- Understand all job related functions and quality requirements
- Efficiently and safely uses a variety of tools and materials in machine and building maintenance (includes most power tools, hand tools, machine shop equipment, personal computer, electrical testing equipment, metals, plastics, rubber, PVC, Teflon, both metric and English hardware, electrical parts, wood and wood products and wood fasteners). May also use forklifts and other lifting equipment in performing work.
- Maintains effective and respectful working relationships with operators and co-workers
- Installs and assists in the installation of parts and equipment.
- Promptly and accurately completes forms, records and reports used to document the status of department projects and tasks.
- Works with machine vendors to assist in repairing machines and ordering parts.
- Actively participates in and supports teamwork, continuous process improvement, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrates flexibility and commitment through cross training and helping other departments consistent with business needs.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Performs duties safely and in accordance with company safety policies.
- Performs light construction projects including building shelving, storage bins, or similar fixtures.
- May be required to work irregular hours or return to the plant after the shift in the event of unexpected mechanical breakdowns or for other special assignments.
- May install or replace electrical wiring and devices under a Master Electricians license.
- May perform minor computer setup or repairs with the assistance/direction of IT Department.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- 5+ years of experience in electrical troubleshooting or electrical mechanical field required
- 3-5 years experience with schematics, AC and DC Voltage, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics
- 5+ years of technical training in a maintenance capacity
- 1-3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, or similar, environment ,
- Possess a high aptitude for attention to detail and receptive to learning procedural work
- Experience with robotics and fabrication (vertical mill, lathe, welding) strongly preferred
- Prior experience with Frequency Drives, Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and ladder logic
- Some knowledge or experience with electrical, motors, and pneumatics preferred
- Must possess the ability to learn a broad range of production processes and related machinery
- Strong problem solving, organization skills and a sense of urgency
- Must be a reliable, conscientious team player
