About the Job
Purpose
To support Educational Opportunities for Children and Families (EOCF) in realizing a common mission by assisting with on-going and emergent maintenance of facilities and equipment to insure the health, safety and well-being of staff, clients and community members served by EOCF.
2. REQUIREMENTS
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Two years experience in general building and equipment maintenance.
Certification and Other Requirements
1. Valid Oregon or Washington State driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance as mandated by Washington State law.
2. Ready access to a personal, legally licensed motor vehicle.
3. Acceptable Driving Abstract per Agency Policy A-709.
4. Submit to finger printing and criminal history background check.
5. Pass a pre-employment health screening indicating freedom from communicable diseases.
6. Commit to EOCF's drug-free work place policy.
7. Valid First Aid and CPR cards.
3. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of
1. Standard practices and procedures in facility and equipment maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical repair.
2. Operation of basic hand tools, electrical tools and heavy equipment.
3. Safe use of cleaning products, industrial chemicals, paints, fertilizers, insecticides and other hazardous material.
4. Safe lifting techniques.
Ability to
1. Work independently, on own initiative, and on deadline.
2. Perform wide variety of routine and emergent facility and equipment repairs.
3. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness as work demands shift; may be asked to work any time of any day of any workweek.
4. Work cooperatively with staff members and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
5. Prepare basic statistical and narrative reports, business correspondence, and memoranda.
6. Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
7. Use the team approach to resolving problems or conflicts.
8. Demonstrate professional and effective written and verbal communication skills; receive information and feedback in an understanding manner; use good judgment.
9. Attend appropriate staff meetings and out-of-town training sessions as assigned.

Key Performance Area: Facility Maintenance
1. Provide regular and thorough maintenance of assigned EOCF offices, centers, playgrounds, and yards.
2. Provide regular maintenance of other offices and centers as assigned by supervisor.
3. Assist with regular repair and maintenance of facilities, grounds and equipment. Grounds maintenance may include mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, and laying or moving gravel, dirt or bark dust.
4. Respond to work order requests and to emergent maintenance needs as assigned by supervisor.
5. Complete minor structural, mechanical and plumbing repairs to facilities and equipment as assigned by supervisor.
6. Pick up and transport supplies and equipment.
7. Alert supervisor of maintenance needs that are not being addressed, including any unsafe or unseemly condition.
8. Assist with relocating office furniture, equipment, fixtures and related items.
9. Maintain equipment, tools and supplies in working condition.

Assure continuous and timely flow of verbal and written information to and from other staff, supervisor, program participants, and community.
Conduct all communication with staff, supervisor, program participants, and community in an effective, respectful, timely, and supportive manner.
Prepare and provide timely and accurate written reports, memoranda and other statistical and narrative information as required or requested.
Maintain organized and accessible record keeping and filing system.
Serve as advocate for EOCF and its families in the community.
Maintain confidentiality of program, staff and client information.
Maintain use and updating of help desk work ticket system.
5. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform other duties as assigned by Facilities Maintenance Supervisor or Chief Financial Officer or Executive Director.
2. Attend inter and intra-component meetings.
3. Conduct mail run in absence of supervisor or as assigned.
