About the Job
The facilities technician will be responsible for the overall upkeep of the facilities with regard to maintenance and facility service needs, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and additional areas as determined by the supervisor.
Responsibilities:- Advises management in appropriate resolution of facilities and maintenance issues.
- Frequent interaction with contractors, maintenance technicians, and other service personnel.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance, electrical and carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
Education & Experience:
· Requires a high school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.
· 4+ years of experience in a maintenance or service role including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general contractor work.
· An Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred
Skills & Abilities:
· High energy level required. Must have tolerance for stress and ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment.
· Ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and management, and with outside vendors/customers.
· Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
Tools, Equipment & Other Resources Used
· Day to day use will include a variety of hand and power tools including, but not limited to, power drills and drivers; table saw; reciprocating saw; jigsaw; power sanders and grinders; power planer; and other common tools used in the construction and maintenance trade.
· Ladders, boom lifts, scissor lift, fork truck and other powered maintenance equipment.
· Light bulbs (fluorescent, incandescent, LED and halogen)
· HVAC, plumbing, and electrical materials including PVC, galvanized metal, insulated and non-insulated electrical wire, PVC cement, drywall joint compound and other necessary solvents and chemicals.
· Generators, air compressors, water filtration systems and hazardous waste equipment.

· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Physical Activity:
· This position requires frequent walking, standing for extended periods of time, sitting for extended periods of time, talking for extended periods of time, carrying items (maximum of 75 pounds), reaching while standing and general repetitive motions.
· Operation of standard office equipment including computer terminal, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines requiring continuous repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
Working Conditions:
· Standing for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
· Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
· Noise level is usually moderate however occasional exposure to increased decibel level (not greater than 120 dB) is possible.
· Exposure to live electrical supply.
· Exposure to plumbing and HVAC sources that may include buildup of dust, gases or particulates.
· Exposure to solder, chemical fumes and airborne particles.
· Exposure to fiberglass, drywall dust, sawdust, and metal or wood filings.
· Fast-paced environment, subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
· Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required to meet service demands.
· This position will frequently be involved with radiant/electrical energy, solvents, grease, oil, irritants, acids, bases, and other hazardous chemicals, electro-mechanical hazards, flammable materials and bio-hazards. Due to exposure to hazardous biological material, immunization to Hepatitis B and/or other diseases may be a requirement.
*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
