Facilities Manager - Community and Family Resources

About the Job
Community and Family Resources is seeking candidates for a Facilities Manager to oversee the management of general cleaning and maintenance and upkeep of all facilities, grounds and equipment at all locations in assigned region for our Des Moines location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, regularly, and fluently in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities are preferred but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Manages the maintenance of the building, grounds, storage areas and equipment at all locations including but not limited to lawn and shrub care, snow removal, exterior lighting and parking lot upkeep.
- Ensures preventive maintenance is scheduled and conducted at all facilities.
- Responsible for the maintenance supply inventory of toiletries and cleaning supplies.
- Responsible for monthly check of washing machines and dryers.
- Responsible for patching of walls and repainting the patched areas as needed.
- Responsible for handling maintenance requests internally or scheduling with outside vendors.
- Serves as the liaison with external building equipment and maintenance vendors.
- Responsible for reporting equipment abuse by clients or staff to Controller.
- Responsible for monthly check and replacement of furnace filters.
Supervisory -
- Directly supervises and supports Housekeeper.
- Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training employees.
- Rewards and disciplines employees.
- Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Maintains documentation regarding any personnel problems with direct report staff and communicates these problems promptly to the Executive Director.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Other duties -
- Responsible for carrying out duties as outlined in the policy on program safety.
- Ensures all facilities and locations are in compliance with all federal, state, licensure and contract requirements. Stays abreast of and ensures compliance with all OSHA regulations.
- Responsible for participating in the total Quality Improvement Program Plan as outlined in the Plan and as directed by the immediate supervisor of this position.
Physical Demands -
- The staff member is regularly required to talk and hear.
- The staff member is required to stand and walk.
- The staff member may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The staff member must have the ability to move within and between agency buildings, standing, sitting, lifting and manipulating objects typically found in this work environment.
- The ability to maintain the confidentiality of client information as mandated by various federal and state laws.
- The staff member may be required to work at any agency building as needed/directed and be responsible for her/his own transportation.
Schedule:
- Type: Full-time
- Hours: 40+ hours each week (Monday-Friday).
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- High school graduate and three years of closely related experience.
- Two years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform routine janitorial functions and light maintenance work including electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
- Must have strong mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, and excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
