Facilities Supervisor - Skilled Nursing Facility - Glencroft Center for Modern Aging

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision from the Administrator and the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Supervisor will perform a variety of duties with regard to the planning, implementing, organizing, coordinating, and supervising staff in the overall functioning of all Glencroft’s Skilled Nursing Facility, Providence Place including but not limited to the skilled nursing facility, dining, and all commercial areas within the building. The Facilities Supervisor will also be responsible for all emergency planning and support of safety drills throughout Providence Place. This is a working supervisory position with responsibility for hands-on construction and remodeling and emergency planning and execution activities.  The Facilities Supervisor has wide latitude for independent decisions and exercises discretionary judgment in the day-to-day activities of the facilities department.  The Facilities Supervisor may perform any or all of the job assignments of all personnel supervised and will possess a genuine interest in and concern for geriatric, chronically ill and/or disabled persons. Must be able to fluently communicate in or to take or give direction or guidance in the English language.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Regular attendance is considered an essential function of this position and is necessary for the efficient operation of the business.
2. Partners with Human Resources in completion of all administrative duties to include but not limited to; personnel action forms, corrective actions, annual evaluations, employee relation needs, incident reporting (employee and resident), interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training all staff members.
3. Responsible for all assigned employee’s training, including in-services and mandatories, on a timely and compliant basis.
4. Responsible for the provision of professional/constructive feedback, coaching and mentoring of assigned employees.
5. Establishes and supervises a preventative maintenance program, work standards, performance reviews, and policies and procedures for the safety and cost-effectiveness of all buildings, grounds, equipment, and mechanical systems.
6. Provides insight and recommendations to the Administrator and Facilities Manager in developing and coordinating rehabilitation, construction specifications; ensuring all building codes are met; maintaining communications between the facility, architects and contractors; and maintenance of necessary records of completed projects to include emergency preparedness and preparing, planning and execution of campus required emergency drills.
7. Provides working knowledge, management oversight of all building and apartment rehabilitation specifications including general knowledge of supplies, material and equipment needed to complete rehab; aware of cost-effective inventory levels; able to effectively purchase and distribute supplies and materials for maintenance and environmental services to complete work orders in a timely manner.
8. Monitors and adheres to department budget and reports monthly on the annual department budget updates.  Annually required to create and forecast annual departmental budget and submitted to Administrator & Facilities Manager for approval. 
9. Responsible for communication between staff & residents relating effectively and clearly to maintenance, emergency preparedness and emergency planning.
10. Able to promote good interdepartmental and intradepartmental working relationships and communication across campus.
11. Skilled in the use of hand and power tools common to trade.
12. Negotiates and evaluates all formal facilities/maintenance vendor contracts.
13. Participates in setting departmental safety performance standards, goals, policies and procedures.
14. Oversight of all Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) record keeping, filing, and appropriate distribution.
15. Performs all other duties as assigned.
