We are looking for a Facilities Support Specialist. As a pivotal member of the Facilities Services Team, the Facilities Support Specialist is tasked with ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems, including those within control rooms and computer rooms. This role extends to preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as managing the property elements of various campus buildings, focusing on mechanical, electrical, structural, environmental, and fire protection systems.

We are looking for a Facilities Support Specialist. As a pivotal member of the Facilities Services Team, the Facilities Support Specialist is tasked with ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of critical infrastructure systems, including those within control rooms and computer rooms. This role extends to preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as managing the property elements of various campus buildings, focusing on mechanical, electrical, structural, environmental, and fire protection systems.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems up to 480 volts A.C., requiring a foundational knowledge of electrical principles, such as Ohm's law and adherence to NEC standards.
- Conduct routine facilities maintenance tasks, including light cleaning, package handling, furniture arrangements, painting, basic woodworking, wiring tasks, and organizing meeting spaces.
- Operate and manage Building Automation Systems (Client) to oversee and troubleshoot environmental systems within the infrastructure.
- Commitment to meeting the needs of both internal and external customers, leveraging customer insights for service improvement, and building strong, trusting customer relationships.
- Execute mechanical duties, including the replacement and installation of system components like air conditioning pipes, pumps, fans, and air filters, ensuring accurate pressure and temperature readings.
- Perform basic inspections and troubleshooting of fire protection systems, including various detectors and sprinkler systems.
- Efficient use of time, prioritizing tasks effectively to achieve more in less time, and capable of managing a wide array of activities.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues with the use of diagnostic tools like ohmmeters, ammeters, and voltmeters, along with temperature measuring devices.
- Exceptional ability to apply logical and methodical approaches to complex issues, with a knack for uncovering hidden problems and an aptitude for thorough analysis.
- Demonstrates a consistent history of surpassing goals, with a strong orientation towards outcomes and a persistent effort to drive self and others towards achieving results.
- Monitor and document equipment performance by regularly checking gauges and system outputs, responding to alarms generated both visually and via building automation systems.
- Ability to connect with people at all levels, maintaining constructive relationships, employing diplomacy and tact, and navigating high-tension situations with ease.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical ability to lift up to fifty pounds, with frequent bending, kneeling, and ladder climbing.
- Familiarity with PC operations, including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is ideal.
- Proficiency with common hand and power tools.
- Independent, motivated, with strong project management skills.
- Background in electrical, mechanical, wiring, or building system monitoring is desired.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong work ethic, with a proactive and positive attitude.
- Team player with proven ability to work collaboratively.
- Valid driver's license and adherence to safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
- Experience in commercial office facilities support is preferred.
