Position Summary
Concordia University (CU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position in its Department of English to begin in August 2025. The successful applicant will be able to serve as a generalist. Main responsibilities will include a 4-4 teaching load across introductory composition and literature courses. Other teaching opportunities may include upper-level courses in British literature, rhetorical theory, literary theory, technical and professional writing, or linguistics. Concordia University emphasizes excellent classroom teaching and active participation in campus life, and all faculty engage in scholarship, committee work, and advising. This position reports to the English Department Chair and is located on the Mequon, WI campus.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach an academically diverse audience in core courses such as Introduction to Writing and Topics in British Literature and Society.
- Teach majors in upper-level courses based on appropriate expertise and experience. Ability to teach English language and linguistics and/or British literature preferred.
- Foster and support a welcoming and encouraging community, and a culture of academic excellence, for all students.
- Collaborate with other CUW English faculty in program assessment, and course development and design.
- Fulfill expectations for peer-reviewed scholarship and service as outlined in the CUW Faculty Handbook
- Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
For consideration, candidates must have a Ph.D. in English (ABD may be considered). Specialties in Rhetoric and Composition, British Literature, and/or periods before 1800 are preferred. Concordia University faculty must be members of Christian congregations; members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod are especially encouraged to apply.
