Overview / Job Summary:
This position is a Full-time Exempt level position, as defined by policy to mean working a minimum of 40 hours per week. The primary responsibility of an Instructor is to provide the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any WSU Tech campus/off-campus locations as assigned. The IT instructor will also provide technical support to students and staff at the WSU Tech South campus. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic planning, serving on various committees, recruiting, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations as needed. An instructor performs all duties as directed by the Program Director, Associate Dean, Dean, Vice President, or President.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
- Teaches all classes according to an approved course syllabus, ensuring that assigned classes are held as scheduled. Holds the final exam at the time scheduled unless permission to deviate has been approved by the department Dean.
- Files an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the course shell of the appropriate Learning Management System.
- Ensures that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency.
- Maintains a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects.
- Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to Deans.
- Make suggestions to the department Dean, concerning the improvement of the curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the college.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with and/or certifications in CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ or Cisco's CCNA and/or CCNP.
- Experience with and/or certifications in C#, Python, JavaScript, Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Teaching experience in adult education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
