This is a coordinator role and part of the state team for our Birth to Five Illinois Department.
SUMMARY
Background on Birth to Five Illinois:
Illinois has a goal of becoming the best state in the nation for families raising young children. In December 2019, the Governor appointed and charged the Commission on Equitable Early Childhood Education and Care Funding with making recommendations for how to provide "equitable access to high-quality Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services for all children birth through age five". The recommendations prioritized the establishment of a statewide infrastructure (which has been named Birth to Five Illinois) comprised of Councils in each of the State's 39 Regions to address the currently existing inequities in our State's financing of ECEC services.

INCCRRA serves as the backbone for the Birth to Five Illinois Department.
About the Position:
The Family & Community Engagement Coordinator will play a central role in supporting family and community engagement as part of this statewide Early Childhood Regional and Community System effort. Key to success is a candidate who brings experience working in community as a conduit for parent/family voice with a belief in the power of bottom-up systems change.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Family & Community Engagement Manager in developing and implementing a strategy to build stakeholder understanding and support for the State's ECEC system.
- Work closely with the State's 39 Regional offices and Councils to support their family and community engagement efforts including identifying/designing training needs.
- Provide coaching support to 39 Regional offices regarding Family & Community Engagement activities alongside the Manager.
- Contribute to advancement of Department goals by providing support to Regional Family & Community Engagement Specialist across the State.
- Develop, maintain, and reinforce alliances internally and externally to create mutual benefit.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Travel within the State as needed, up to 25%.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have experience with strategic planning and engagement activities.
- Must have extensive experience in community building.
- Must have deep experience working with diverse individuals including racial, ethnic, economic, gender non-conforming, and both urban and rural settings.
- Must have knowledge of engagement best practices including authentic listening, inclusion, and power sharing.
- Must be able to facilitate training (in-person or online), including small groups, individual meetings, and large groups.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of diverse audiences in their home communities.
- Bilingual (ability to read, write, and speak) in Spanish preferred.
- Must hold a valid Illinois State Driver's License.
- Must meet minimum vehicle insurance from the Illinois State insurance requirement for personal vehicle; $100,000 Bodily Injury per accident (single person) / $300,000 Bodily Injury per accident max (multiple persons) / $25,000 Property damage.
EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE REQUIRED:
Use of computer, phone, printer and basic office equipment. Operating systems include/but not limited to: Outlook, email, SLACK, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Docs etc; Microsoft Office software; specific training provided on INCCRRA's Data Tracking Program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently. Any additional language skills are a plus.
