What You Will Be Doing:- Drafting Legal Documents: You will be responsible for drafting a wide variety of case documents with accuracy and attention to detail. These include Complaints, Answers, Motions, Responses, Settlement Agreements, Parenting Plans, Child Support Worksheets, Final Judgments, and post-judgment documents such as Quitclaim Deeds and Income Deduction Orders.
- Service of Process: You will organize and complete the service of process, even for difficult or evasive parties.
- Court Filings and Document Management: You will submit documents to the court through various methods (e-filing, email, hand delivery) and ensure they are properly indexed in case files.
- Discovery Process: You will engage in the discovery process, including drafting discovery requests and responses, working with clients to obtain documents, and organizing discovery materials.
- Case File Maintenance: You will manage both electronic and paper case files for the attorney(s), ensuring all documents are properly stored and maintained.
- Calendar Management: You will maintain the attorney(s)’s calendar, scheduling court appearances, trials, conferences, depositions, mediations, and tracking all deadlines.
- Client Relations: You will maintain good working relationships with clients, ensuring communication is effective while billing appropriately and fairly for your time.
- Financial Document Assistance: You will assist clients in completing Domestic Relations Financial Affidavits (DRFAs) and discovery responses independently.
- Case Strategy Assistance: You will work independently alongside the attorney, helping to move cases forward and anticipate strategies to address case challenges.
Experience You Will Need:- Family Law Experience: A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in family law is required, specifically in a fast-paced, mid-size firm.
- Court System Knowledge: You must be familiar with the Metro Atlanta court systems, procedures, and court staff, as well as Georgia’s e-filing systems and processes.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are required to handle multi-faceted caseloads and the demands of the firm.
- Legal Software Proficiency: Experience with legal software and document storage/delivery systems is necessary.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are needed to maintain relationships with clients, manage case files, and assist with legal documents.
- Independent Work: You must be capable of working independently to assist attorneys in moving cases through the legal process while managing responsibilities proactively.
- Microsoft Office: Proficiency with Microsoft Office is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Educational Background: An Associate degree is preferred for this role.
