Family Medicine Residency Program Director - Chester County Hospital at Penn Medicine
West Chester, PA
About the Job
About the Position
Penn Medicine Medical Group and Chester County Hospital seek an experienced leader to establish and lead a residency program in Family Medicine, based in Chester County. Applicants should have three or more years of experience in either an administrative leadership position or with medical education, ideally within a residency program. This position will include both clinical effort and administrative/educational effort. The amount of non-clinical time will increase as the program grows to its full complement of resident trainees (likely over a 2-to-3-year period).
The program director will have ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the educational content and administrative policies of the program comply with the requirement for training in Family Medicine as defined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
To ensure that both regional community needs and resident educational needs are considered, the program director will report to both Chester County Hospital Chief Medical Officer (or their designee) and the chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine. The program director will supervise the work of the program coordinator, to assist in the organization and operation of the program rotations and accreditation. The program director will also supervise the non-clinical effort of an assistant program director to be named at a later date. The program director will be provided with a physician mentor who is experienced in graduate medical education within the Penn Medicine system.
The program director will lead recruitment and selection activities with a goal of matching six residents each year via the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The program director will be responsible for overseeing all clinical rotations. The program director will be responsible for ensuring that evaluations of clinical trainees are completed and for providing twice annual progress reports to each trainee, either directly or via delegation to other faculty members.
The program director will ensure that Penn Medicine policies for graduate medical education are implemented within the training program and will be responsible for any remediation or disciplinary actions required pursuant to these policies. A more detailed job description, established for all program directors within Penn Medicine, is available for review.
