Job Description:
Provide Storage experience including architecture and storage management knowledge and expertise for a large Federal program management office
REQUIRED:
US Citizenship required.
TS/SCI Security Clearance with Full Scope Poly required
Location: Columbia, Maryland or Manassas, Virginia (3+ days a week)
- Strong collaboration skills; works well on a team

- Flexible, proactive, ability to work with minimal direction in an open and fast-paced environment
- Demonstrate a full understanding of the ability to create, manage, and deploy a distributed HA storage system using a combination of hardware and software capabilities
- Experience and understanding the ability to manage a fibre channel network
- Experience and understanding of Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance and NetApp Data Ontap
- Proven hands-on storage engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with architecting, implementing, and managing SAN and NAS storage environments and associated solutions to include maximizing storage infrastructure functionality and troubleshooting complex hardware and performance issues.
- Experience monitoring hardware and hosted software performance and workloads and ensuring system availability and reliability
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, reporting, and analysis at Tier 2/3 support level. Proven track record of troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Proven ability to perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, and security configurations
- Demonstrated ability to monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Security+ certification
DESIRED:
- Strong knowledge of Information Technology Service Management, ITIL preferably
- Experience working in customer environment
- Ability to conduct on-the-job training
- Experience writing and troubleshooting scripts
- ServiceNow, Splunk experience
- Certified Storage Engineer certification
- CCNA certification
Responsibilities:
- Consult, install, configure, monitor, and provide subject matter expert support of Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), and associated technologies.
- Ensure data is accessible through secured protocols and recommended vendor and industry standards.
- Participate in major incident and client consultation calls as the subject matter expert in storage technical areas
- Provide technical guidance to Junior and mid-level storage Administrators, client technical teams, and IT systems managers
- Proactively manage SAN and NAS storage environments by monitoring alerts, incoming work pipelines, and by troubleshooting complex hardware and performance issues
- Interface with storage technology vendors to resolve complex challenges
- Creating Reports scheduling and analysis of storage systems
- Participate in system patch management for all storage systems
- Participate in change control lifecycle activities
- Maximize the storage infrastructure functionality and recommend optimal improvements for availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness
- Monitor hardware and hosted software performance, firmware versions and security compliance, as suggested by vendor best practice documentation and client senior technical teams
- Engage hardware vendors to request assistance with complex issues not documented in knowledge articles
- Participate in the knowledge management practice by routinely creating, reviewing, and removing knowledge articles and Standard Operating Procedures for common or complex storage equipment management activities
- Monitor work pipelines in ticketing system, email, and phone, for incoming or pending incidents, requests, and change tasks
- Manage workloads and ensure defined metrics are met daily
- Participate in client facing meetings as a subject matter expert and answer questions about storage technology, functionality, configuration, and challenges
- Provide recommendations to client for environmental stability, as suggested by the technology vendor
- Resolve any escalated incidents and participate in troubleshooting calls with the incident management team as well as client technical groups
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelors Degree and 12+ years of professional experience and a Master of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study. Without a Masters degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (15+ years in total).
