We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Engineer to manage the design, splicing, and testing of fiber optic networks. The ideal candidate will have experience in fiber engineering and construction management, strong project management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Kick-Off meetings for new backbone, lateral, and/or riser fiber projects.
- Review sales engineering designs to determine backbone fiber routes.
- Obtain or create necessary circuit identifiers from relevant groups.
- Develop a Fiber DLR in Netcracker for A-Z fiber locations (Note: New site survey forms must be submitted and entered by Fiber Construction before this).
- Design fiber routes, create splicing prints, and generate work orders for vendor splicing within the active backbone.
- Provide fiber assignments to the Construction Team for lateral fibers to the last demarcation panel on new lateral builds.
- Coordinate fiber cable counts and demarc points with the Construction team.
- Oversee all backbone splicing and end-to-end testing, with Fiber Construction assisting in splicing where needed.
- Obtain quotes or bids from contractors for backbone splicing and testing tasks.
- Create requisitions for Purchase Order approval and vendor payments.
- Manage vendors and contractors during splicing and testing activities.
- Submit all necessary Change Management notifications and adhere to field activity policies.
- Provide Operations/Provisioning teams with final DLRs and test shots for project closeout.
- Complete all closeout tasks in the CRM system.
- Approve vendor invoices in ReqLogic.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- BS/BA (Civil, Construction, Electrical Engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience & Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of fiber engineering and construction management experience or field construction management experience.
- Knowledge of Outside Plant Construction techniques (aerial & underground) preferred.
- Familiarity with standards such as GO95, NESC, NEC, and OSHA preferred.
- Experience with small cell wireless node engineering, especially with wood/metal poles in the right of way, is a plus.

- Basic telecommunications knowledge is required.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Positive attitude and commitment to safety, integrity, and professional development.
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $45 - $55/per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
