Our Aerospace Environmental Simulation Laboratory is searching for a competent and experienced Fiber Optic Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, the successful applicant will research proper testing practices, run test equipment, and design and fabricate custom test setups for fiber optic interconnect test programs. Responsibilities:
- Research test standards and creating test plans based on the needs of our customers.
- Program and verify high-level equipment parameters for testing.
- Collaborate with Test Technicians and Quality Management Staff in order to ensure all company policies and procedures are implemented during testing.
- Operation of test machinery included but not limited to: Vibration Shaker, Shock tester, Temperature and Humidity Chambers, Thermal Shock Chamber, Salt Spray Chamber, Tensile Testers, and Thermal Vacuum Chamber.
- Perform Insertion loss and return loss measurements on fiberoptic interconnects before, during and after
- Design, fabricate and verify custom test equipment and custom test setups.
- Stay current in best practices and investigate new methods of testing.
Requirements:
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Masters preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
- Excellent report and technical document writing skills.
- Impeccable communication, presentation and organizational skills.
- Excellent skills with Windows Microsoft Office including Word and excel – must be able to chart and graph trends, create metrics, and track and monitor data.
- Strong root cause and trend analysis reporting skills.
- Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods.
- Ability to work independently to create and deliver testing results
- Experience with MIL-DTL-28840, MIL-PRF-28876, and MIL-PRF-29504.
- LabView programming experience is a plus
