POSITION SUMMARY
Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded in 2022 by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and is in need of a Fiber Splicing Manager to help us flourish. GRC looks to leverage the latest technologies and utilize the best-in-industry equipment, construction, and safety practices to build a first-class nationwide fiber optic utility construction firm. This position will report to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate must be adept in data management, logistics, and operations, be excited about opportunities to learn and grow in their career and be able to execute various projects at a time. This position represents an opportunity to join an excellent team on the ground floor with growth opportunities.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee fiber splicing projects from inception to completion.
- Hire & train construction crews and support staff consistent with project workload
- Provide detailed production forecast and updates to GRC/Vero project management team
- Maintain accurate production statuses and statistics in Vero’s proprietary project management platform
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Supervise and manage a team of fiber splicers and technicians.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any personal issues.
- Ensure all fiber splicing work meets industry standards and specifications.
- Preventive and emergency maintenance of Vero’s network assets in all markets, including utility locates, route drives, damage prevention and repairs
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fiber optic technology and best practices.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact of clients regarding fiber splicing projects.
- Manage inventory of splicing equipment and material.
- Maintain an accurate record of all splicing activities and projects.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes.
- Travel 50%
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years’ experience managing underground and aerial fiber optic construction crews
- 3+ years’ management experience in fiber optic construction
- Proven ability to develop and meet production forecasts for complex underground construction projects
- Thorough understanding of OSP construction techniques & standards
- Proficiency in fiber optic splicing techniques and equipment.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

- Strong process and documentation orientation, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, etc.), Google Maps, Google Earth and project management tools

- Estimated base annual salary is anticipated to be between $115,000-$135,000. Pay ranges represent a good faith annual estimate at the time of the job posting. Actual pay will be based on multiple factors including experience, skill sets, location, internal equity, and market rates.
