Field Engineer
ResourceTek is the Human Capital subsidiary of an ENR ranked, multi-discipline Engineering firm providing technical services to industry and government in all areas of Engineering, Construction, and a broad range of other technical disciplines.
In support of our client, an international Automotive manufacturer, we are searching for a Field Engineer to support the transformation of existing facility into a center for EV manufacturing and technology in Canton, MS. This person will collaborate directly with our client’s construction project management team and vendors to provide leadership and administration for an estimated 18–24-month contract assignment. There is a possibility it could turn into a direct hire opportunity.
JOB SUMMARY
The Field Engineer must have experience working with Architectural & Engineering firms and General Contractors on construction projects in the industrial sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil/structural engineering, construction project management, and a proven track record of successful project delivery in a manufacturing environment. Candidate responsibilities will include the development of scopes of work, specifications, bid documents, drawing packages, and project timelines for regional projects consisting of new construction, remodel, or renovation of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop project scope of work through collaboration with stakeholders consisting of Facilities Engineers, Production / Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance personnel, and Safety to ensure project objectives are met.
- Lead the structural design and analysis of manufacturing facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Oversee the construction, sub-contractor coordination, material delivery, safety, daily construction administration and RFI's.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate structural and civil solutions with manufacturing processes and equipment requirements.
- Conduct value engineering analyses to optimize project costs while maintaining structural integrity.
- Develop written specifications and bid documents for engineering and construction services.
- Collaborate with Purchasing during bid and award phase to ensure selected contractors are technically competent on all project objectives and can meet budget and schedule.
- Manage Architecture/Engineering firms during project design phase. Meet regularly and review progress. Prepare regular status reports. Track and control project spending. Manage change order processes.
- Manage General Contracting firms during project construction phase. Meet regularly and review progress. Prepare regular status reports. Track and control project spending. Manage change order processes.
- Manage and coordinate structural engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Establish and maintain regional facilities engineering standards and specifications to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices, codes, and regulations.
- Assists with new project development, resource, and budget development within assigned areas.
- Be accountable and demonstrate ownership for all assigned projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in Construction Management; Preferred Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience at a professional level
- 5+ years of experience in civil or structural engineering with a focus on industrial projects.
- Proficiency in structural design software and AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, project management skills, and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, and control drawings
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications, including Microsoft Project
- Must have above-average troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and be capable of working without close supervision
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour and/or 30-hour construction courses
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with AIA contract document
- Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and Cost-Plus GMP project delivery methods.
- Knowledge of facility Mechanical Systems (HVAC, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Compressed Air, Pumps, etc.) and Electrical Systems (Power Distribution – Low, Medium, and High-Voltage)
