# Project Overview:
Driftwood LNG LLC is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
# Job Summary:
The Field Engineer - Geotech is responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering the project from planning through procurement, construction, and turn-over within the civil discipline and site work including soil stabilization, mass earthworks, wick drains, piling, roads and drainage. Supervises the development of budgets and schedules, manages performance, reports progress, and initiates action to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and according to specifications. Resolves problems and coordinates the final turnover of work to downstream work activities. Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of a high-performance project team. Has overall responsibility for scope execution, ensuring that Program/Project is delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality and safety and to Customer and Bechtel performance expectations.
# Major Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Packaging
+ Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
+ Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.
Material Management
+ Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
+ Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
+ Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
+ Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
+ Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire
+ Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
+ Reviews and approves inspection test plans
+ Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
# Education and Experience Requirements:
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Have a working knowledge of structural construction operations, construction surveying, excavation and backfill operations, and concrete installation.
+ Technical knowledge of drainage on infrastructure projects, including open-cut excavation, trenching, grading and general construction work in and around sensitive watercourses.
+ Knowledge of construction technologies.
+ Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
+ Familiarity with current industry quality standards.
+ Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
+ Direct hire mass excavation and backfill
+ Direct hire shallow soil stabilization and soil solidification
+ Direct hire stockpile management and onsite trucking management experience
+ Direct hire wick drain installation
+ Marine Experience
+ Piling experience
+ Intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
+ Preferably with prior experience of roadway construction, mass grading elements and slip-form paving activities.
+ Intermediate understanding of production management including scheduling.
+ Sound communication skills.
+ Sound interpersonal and teamwork skills.
+ Intermediate knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
+ Extensive experience in civil construction on large projects.
+ Previous supervisory experience within civil discipline.
