Job Purpose:
The Field Engineer will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and testing of electrical equipment at large substations and various industrial sites. This role includes testing high and low voltage electrical systems, such as switchgears, transformers, cables, bushings, and lightning arresters, as well as assembling and configuring electrical panels. The Field Engineer will lead safety efforts on-site, ensuring compliance with company and client policies, and provide guidance in all safety meetings. Additionally, the Field Engineer will collaborate with internal teams and clients to coordinate maintenance activities, develop site strategies, and ensure timely completion of work orders while maintaining quality and documentation standards. This position requires flexibility to travel across Missouri to various client sites and contribute to the overall safety and success of electrical testing and engineering projects.
Responsibilities:
As a Field Engineer, you will perform maintenance, repairs, and retrofitting of equipment at large electrical substations. Responsibilities include:
- Testing high and low voltage electrical equipment, such as switchgears, cables, transformers, bushings, connections, lightning arresters, and configuring equipment.
- Assembling transformers and electrical panels, connections, procedures, and protocols.
- Completing technical reviews of the data sheets.
- Facilitating test equipment requirements.
- Ensuring all company and client safety policies are adhered to at all times, including performing leadership safety excellence onsite and participating in all safety meetings.
- Responding to emergency calls as required by clients.
- Coordinating engineering work orders with the company’s maintenance crews.
- Collaborating with the client’s planners to improve upon work orders.
- Maintaining effective communication with internal and external groups regarding maintenance activities and scheduling.
- Developing site strategy and adjust timelines accordingly.
- Escalating awareness of engineering and technical issues on projects within a timely manner to the project manager and the client.
- Providing project status updates on a daily basis to the client’s reliability team.
- Responsible for site quality and document reviews along with the safety of the team.
- Ensuring documentation is completed, compiled, and filed in accordance with the client’s procedures, including all test reports.
- Position to be performed at various unanticipated locations throughout Missouri. Position will report to the local office in Kansas City, Missouri.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with some exposure to the following:
- Power DB software (including use and form creation)
- Doble Protection Suite and Doble DTA 2.0
- Accelerator Quick Set software
- Omicron universal test equipment
- Equipment including DILO, Megger, Vanguard, Doble M4100, Doble 6150 Relay Test Set, and VLF HiPot
- GE Enervista and ABB WinZip
- Electrical schematic reading and point-to-point verification of electrical systems
- Component function checks
