Job Summary:
The Field Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating and enhancing telehealth visits between healthcare providers and patients. This position requires a combination of clinical knowledge and technical proficiency to ensure seamless virtual healthcare delivery. The Field Medical Assistant works closely with both healthcare providers and patients to optimize the telehealth experience.
Essential Functions
- Serves as a liaison between providers, facilities, group home, insurance plans, support staff, POA, patients, and others.
- Receives, triages, and responds to inbound requests via multiple channels including, but not limited to, phone calls, electronic messages, google email and chats.
- Under the direction of a provider, assists with virtual care activities such as gathering/documenting medical history, medication refills, test result update, patient education as instructed by the provider, etc.
- Assists with provider schedule maintenance review prior to the visit, preparing patients chart and lab results for telehealth encounters, appointment scheduling follow up, communicating with Medical Department for referrals to a specialist, and sign up for patient portal.
- Follow up on inbound requests with outbound communication to providers, facilities, pharmacies, insurance plans, support staff, and patients regarding patient care.
- Traveling is a must, and requires you to travel up to 60 miles to a facility and private home to conduct a successful visit.
- Assist patients with pre-telehealth visit preparations, including providing technical guidance for virtual visits, and ensuring they have necessary equipment and internet connectivity for a successful visit.
- Performs clinical and administrative duties that include but are not limited to greeting patients at the facilities/private home, preparing charts, taking patient histories, obtaining vital signs is a must and reviewing medication lists.
- Must have professionalism and a strong work ethic (candidates strive to be a responsible and effective employee, who values excellence in terms of conduct, integrity, and attitude. Candidates are to represent AVC Med and perform successful patient care .
- Travel to assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, group homes or private homes to assist patients with telehealth visits.
- Communicate and collaborate at all times with the Medical team lead, Scheduling team lead, and Clinician.
- Assisting in registration of new patients with Account Managers, as well as occasionally independently
- Strong knowledge of first aid and medical procedures including but not limited to full range of phlebotomist duties to include proper venipuncture, finger-stick and heel-stick procedures using appropriate techniques, and perform set-up and completion of special test-related phlebotomy procedures utilizing appropriate techniques (if apply).
- Ensure that all aspects of patient accessioning, specimen collection, processing, and distribution are performed properly. Conduct patient in-processing prior to specimen collection, including review of paperwork accompanying patients and cordial guidance and assistance (if apply).
- Assemble equipment, such as tourniquets, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work trays, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures (if applicable).
Job Requirements:
- This position is based in Phoenix, AZ. Candidates must reside in Arizona.
- This position is part-time, up to 30 HOURS per week, Monday to Friday.
- Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate-Graduation certificate from an accredited school.
- At least 2+ years of experience in Primary Care or working with geriatric population
- Must own reliable devices to access video capability i.e. smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
- Reliable transportation with a valid Arizona Driver's License.
- Must hold an active CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working with electronic health records and Google Suite.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Must be willing to travel within reasonable distances.
