JOB SUMMARY
Ensures coordination of technical information from various sources. Prepares detailed technical reports and submits field investigation results to management. Provides technical and administrative support to resolve service problems to minimize customer dissatisfaction and reduce warranty cost.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares detailed documentation to present at the Field Quality Engineering Meetings (US-SA, CPIT, and Field Fix). Coordinates and tracks status of each issue from initial identification, to inclusion into SA, to resolution.
- Investigates and analyzes warranty claims, Technical Assistance Line (TAL) cases, Field Product Reports (FPRs), and Owner Relation (OR) cases to support the US-SA process. Follows up with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Suppliers to identify root-cause findings.
- Conducts special investigations and submits Technical Information Reports (TIRs) to Isuzu Motors Limited (IML) to support product improvements with engineering data. Supports field service group to resolve critical customer complaint issues.
- Evaluates and tests returned warranty parts to duplicate field complaints, determines root-cause, and develops quantitative and qualitative written reports to support corrective action investigations with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Suppliers.
- Assists Technical Quality Engineer (TQE) with maintenance of warranty parts return program codes in SAP, ensures parts are requested for the correct duration of time and correct quantity to support part investigations.
- Assists Service Readiness group to develop labor time guides, Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), diagnostic scan tools, workshop manuals, and related field corrective actions.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: Manager, Field Quality Engineering
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
- Minimum three years automotive service/quality experience; mechanical background required
KNOWLEDGE
- Strong mechanical and electronic expertise in troubleshooting repair, overhaul, and installation of commercial vehicle products
- In-depth knowledge of diesel and gas engines, fuel electronics system, exhaust gas after treatment system, and EV (Electric Vehicle) systems
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- High ability to work independently and handle multiple objectives and cases at one time
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Proficient statistical analysis skills
- Must maintain good driving record and driver license Class C or better with knowledge of commercial regulations
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. Must have the ability to work under a vehicle including bending, crawling, and stooping, and under some severe hot and cold conditions. Must have the ability to lift objects up to 60 lbs.
Position requires approximately 10 to 25% travel including overnight stays and international travel, and occasional weekend travel/stays.
Pay scale for this position is between $76,302 and $95,378. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
