About the Job
Job Purpose:
Completes field construction projects by developing designs, plans, and schedules; supervising construction work.
Duties:
* Develops field construction projects by studying objectives and requirements; integrating project with long-range engineering plans; surveying sites; designing staking sheets; completing calculations; listing materials and supplies; developing cost estimates; preparing construction schedules; obtaining approvals and right-of-way easements; coordinating plans, schedules, and requirements with gas, telephone, water, and sewer companies.
* Supervises field construction by issuing work orders; resolving design issues; verifying materials used by contractors; meeting requirements of, and resolving issues with, local and state authorities.
* Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal and codes requirements.
* Keeps information accessible by filing plans and documents; updating field engineering maps, drawings, materials, and specifications databases; documenting installations and modifications.
* Provides project status information by collecting and summarizing construction and materials data, and coordinating actions.
* Keeps vehicle operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
* Updates job knowledge by remaining current with regulations; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Accomplishes engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
