About the Job
Service Engineer –Instrumentation and Controls, Energy Business
Duties and Responsibilities:
Solve technical and operational problems at our customer power plants.
Perform preventative maintenance activities according to maintenance programs.
Support New Build and Commissioning teams on projects delivery.
Prepare service work reports and other relevant documentation related to site or customer visits.
Maintain good relationships with the customer during work execution.
Be able to travel to our customer facilities for service attendance within Canada, US and the Caribbean.
Be on service jobs about 80% of the year.
Desired Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Controls & Automation or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Desired Skills and Experience
The applicant should have a minimum of three (3) years’experience with knowledge of:
PLC development, programming and troubleshooting (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider etc.)
DCS troubleshooting
HMI: Wonderware and other applicable systems
Various industrial networks and protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN-bus, CIP, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, ControlNET, Industrial Ethernet)
OPC systems
Windows server and UNIX servers
Variable frequency drives
Advance programming of firewalls and routers
Reciprocating Gas Engine Control Systems (MAN, MaK, Caterpillar, Bergen etc.)
Additional Skills:
Good leadership and collaboration skills
Strong focus on safety protocols and QEHS standards
Detail oriented
Be able to work independently when needed
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English required, Spanish a plus)
Excellent computer skills
Travel Requirements: This position requires a 70% - 85% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations
The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location
