Position Overview
The Service Engineer is responsible for providing installation, commissioning, start-up support, maintenance, and repair of Company products and machines at various customer locations. The Service Engineer is also responsible for monitoring service calls, maintaining the appropriate reports and documentation, suggesting spare parts and modifications for the equipment and conducting customer training, in addition to providing training and support to other service personnel. This position has significant customer interaction, requiring dedication and professionalism.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
·Perform any preventative maintenance as requested by the customer to ensure optimum operation and a minimum down time of machines and equipment
·Provide technical support and customer training
·Perform emergency service at the customers' locations as needed to ensure the full functionality of Company equipment. Provide on-call technical phone support and response to equipment and customer issues
·Provide required service documentation and daily/weekly service reports relating to all functions performed
·Provide support and basic training to other Service Engineers in the department
·Gather information at customer sites regarding process and quality concerns which can be used to come up with new technologies or solutions to create new business opportunities
·Promote Company and its products, processes and values
·Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
·Ability and willingness to learn Company project processes and understanding of automation and industrial washer components, their functionality and operation
·Ability to diagnose and repair problems independently
·Ability to read mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings
·Ability to read and understand PLC software and implement updates is required (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)
·A strong technical aptitude and ability to trouble shoot issues and recommend solutions
·Beyond general industrial machine knowledge position requires specialization in either mechanical or controls/robotics
·Excellent work ethic and the ability to work independently and with little supervision
·Highly developed organizational, oral and written communication skills
Special Position Requirements
·Frequent domestic and international travel as required by the customer; must be able to travel, and maintain the ability to travel to customers as required. Ability to work at customers' locations in North America, must be able to enter Canada and Mexico
·Ability to travel on short notice even on weekends and holidays
·Ability to be available and on-call 24 hours per day
·Ability to interact professionally with customers and suppliers at all levels; ability to handle difficult situations and de-escalate situations as needed
Minimum Qualifications
·High school diploma, Associates, or BS/BA in a technical field (Electrical or Mechanical) preferred
·3+ years in equipment maintenance/service/repair experience required
·2+ years of experience with mechanical design of structures and mechanisms of varying degrees of complexity
·Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook (required), Word (Basic level), and Excel (Basic – not required but preferred)
Physical Demands
·Must have adequate finger dexterity for computer use
·The position involves reading, writing, mathematics and measuring
·Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and have the ability to climb, stand, stoop or kneel for extended periods of time
·Ability to safely climb ladders up to 15 feet
·Ability to safely operate and navigate a motorized lift, up to 35 feet
·Ability to travel for extended periods of time via air travel and/or vehicle travel
·Ability to work in tight spaces; some of the machines require getting into small/tight spaces
Work Environment
·Majority of work takes place on a manufacturing shop floor, which could involve exposure to hazards
·Work surfaces may be slippery, uneven or unstable
·Shop temperatures may not always be controlled and could vary from hot to cold, depending on the season
