FIRST-SHIFT FULL-TIME FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Hydro-Spray Wash Systems, Inc. has a 30 year history of experience designing, manufacturing, and supplying high-quality, in-bay, self-service car wash systems that exhibit superior cleaning ability and rugged reliability. The person in this position must be ready, willing and able to jump into their company-provided service vehicle and, according to company protocol, be fully-prepared to visit assigned customers at their place of business to perform preventative maintenance, repair equipment, and install replacement parts associated with Hydrowash equipment and accessories. In this role, the Technician wears many hats each day; this includes serving as:
- A company Ambassador who routinely offers our customers high-value goods and services from Hydrowash to help solve their most pressing problems.
- An Investigator who continues to strive to find a missing piece of the puzzle when something isn’t quite making sense or not working quite right, but who is smart enough to ask for help and reach out for expert guidance when reinforcement is needed.
- An Installer who loves the idea of learning something new every day about their technologies such as in-bay equipment, control systems and pay stations, automated conveyors, high pressure pump systems, pneumatic and hydraulic components, and electrical equipment including motors, sensors and control systems, among others.
- A Trainer who provides our customers with current, valuable education and information to enhance the performance and prolong the life of their equipment.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK COULD LOOK LIKE THIS:
- Working with Field Service Support and Inventory Control staff at company headquarters, the Field Service Technician helps pre-plan for each service call by studying and interpreting diagrams, sketches, specifications, and materials lists to ensure that the service vehicle is loaded with all necessary parts and equipment before departing for scheduled, on-site customer service calls. For Warranty calls, pre-planning activities include reviewing the warranty documentation and the company’s policy manual to proactively identify upcoming routine maintenance needs and to adequately prepare for on-site warranty visits with our customers.
- At the appointed time, arrives at the customer site and follows unit installation instructions to troubleshoot and repair various electrical and mechanical problems and/or electronic fluid transfer component problems, or to perform other specific service repair work on vehicle wash equipment and accessories
- Applies the appropriate corrective action to inspect, calibrate, and check all systems, components, chemicals and other factors to ensure the system is working properly; alternatively identifies defective/damages parts, components and/or systems and makes recommendations to the customer about any necessary replacements or other service work that may be required to ensure proper function
- In addition to visual inspection, uses mathematics, equations and other data-based skills to interpret data, evaluate metrics, and apply appropriate, problem-analysis or problem-solving techniques to accurately assess a technical installation issue; seeks next-level guidance and/or additional resources from Engineer or Field Service Technical Lead to resolve particularly complex technical equipment or installation problems.
- Identifies if there is salvage or re-purpose value for all defective materials/parts/ components; collect and return scrap materials for which there is monetary value to designated holding area and produce related scrap reports. Likewise, applies company policy to control purchasing costs for out-of-stock parts ensure and employ cost-saving opportunities
- Completes accurate, timely and thorough process documentation and production reports according to company protocol; when appropriate, performs data entry and data retrieval using company-provided tablet or laptop and/software to generate desired reports (e.g. work orders, expense reports, daily and weekly time logs, etc.).
- According to established company procedures, properly maintains the general up-keep and appearance of the assigned company service vehicle, tool inventory, and parts inventory.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of equipment changes or modification through various resources such as training seminars, maintenance manuals, and service bulletins, or engineering documents, as well as individual research and other correspondence.
- Occasionally, as business needs dictate, assists manufacturing with basic assembly of parts/components and other light manufacturing duties
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
YOUR IMPACT & INFLUENCE ON BUSINESS OPERATIONS COULD INCLUDE (but would not be limited to):
- Accurately analyzing the state of all parts/components/system installations to identify defects and determine the root cause(s) for service/repair/quality issues; propose/implement appropriate, timely, cost-effective corrective actions and continuous process improvements and verify effectiveness of any change.
- Regularly collaborating with other team members and management to determine if service and repair activities, reports and records comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)'s and regulatory requirements; identifying the need for any new procedure and/or corrective action; following through to ensure that any new/different task/procedure/process is thoroughly tested and well-documented.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATION:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School diploma and/or GED.
- If hired, must be able to follow all safety protocol, adhere to all company policies/procedures and other prescribed best practices/industry standards or regulations.
- Must be able to understand and follow established company procedures. Must also demonstrate the ability to accurately read, interpret, comprehend and follow/apply technical specifications, blueprints; installation diagrams, models and drawings; equipment/operating, maintenance manuals and instructions. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is critical.
- Solid math and reasoning skills to prepare, compile and validate data/reports; must be able to calculate standard increments of measure and apply basic algebra and geometry.
- Some comfort level with technology, software and spreadsheets, including use of all Microsoft office products and smart phones, and the willingness to learn new systems, techniques, and technologies.
- Must have knowledge and skills using a wide variety of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of electrical and plumbing a plus!
- If required by job duties, background checks (criminal/education/employment/ reference/credit/DMV) will be performed; results must be satisfactory to the company. Also requires a valid driver's license and the ability to drive to and from prospective and current accounts or other business engagements, as needed. Clean driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations within the past 5 years; no more than two (2) preventable, at-fault accidents within the past 5 years. No impaired driving convictions within the past five (5) years and no charges for impaired driving currently pending are requirements for the job.
- On a daily basis must be willing and able to travel assigned geography. Based on business needs, ability to work infrequent night/weekends and/or holidays and also to travel frequently (locally or regionally) to troubleshoot equipment at customer sites or other venues. Must attain and maintain OSHA safety certifications and pass required standardized assessments/exams.
- Plumbing and/or electrical certification is a plus, but not a requirement for this position.

Manual/finger/hand dexterity and sufficient physical (hand/arm/shoulder) strength to be able to effectively operate precision machinery and hand tools to do fine manipulations is required. Work is outdoors year-round; must be able to tolerate extreme heat and extreme cold.
