Field Service Technician I

This role is likely to convert to FT - will need to have a good driving history and driver's license since they will be driving a vehicle once converted to FT.
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM EST.
Friday: Reserved as a make-up day in case of rain or if the worker is absent during the week.
Travel Requirements: Potential travel to sites in Mississippi (MS), North Carolina (NC), South Carolina (SC), and Florida (FL). Travel distances may be up to 400 miles from the primary site.
Candidates must be local to the primary site.
Candidate will be riding along with someone. The worker will not be doing the actual driving. Candidate will not be driving.
Top 3 Skills Needed:
Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze and solve problems independently.
Independent Worker: Self-motivated and capable of working without constant supervision.
Water Industry Experience: Experience with water valves and hydrants is preferred.
Work Environment: Outdoor work is required.
THE ROLE:
Really hoping to find candidates with water distribution systems experience as we have projects coming up that we will need people who can possibly "hit the ground running"
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for safe, accurate and professional operation/maintenance of valves and fire hydrants. You will follow written procedures for assessing, operating, maintaining and testing valves and fire hydrants. You will also become familiar with the duties of the Crew Chief in order to provide advancement opportunities within the organization. In this role, the incumbent will also maintain a clean and orderly work site environment to enable safe and efficient movement of workers and motorized equipment throughout the site.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Support tool/equipment assembly and disassembly under supervision, including cleaning tools and equipment
- Actively participate in onsite safety and planning meetings to review safety risks and areas of concern based on planning documentation and onsite observations
- Keeps site clean and free from potential tripping and safety hazards
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organizational needs
- Secure all items loaded on the truck for safe over-the-road travel in accordance with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Department of Transportation and local Department of Transportation guidelines.
- Assist in securing load utilizing straps and chains.
- Ensure vehicle, yard and loading areas are clear of debris and trash; accessories and equipment are organized and easy to access.
- Follow all safety processes and procedures and maintain a "Safety First" approach when completing daily work tasks.
- Complete a Job Safety Assessment before beginning any job on a customer site.
- Ensure compliance with all Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
- Participation in client Watermark volunteer activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school or general equivalency degree.
- Experience in the water industry preferred.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record.
- Ability to work flexible hours to respond to customer emergencies.
- Ability to read, write legibly and communicate effective with co-workers, supervisors/managers, and customers both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills.
