As a Catalyx Field Systems Engineer | Automated Logistics Solutions, you will be an integral member of a dedicated team of skilled field service, systems automation engineers & engineering technical leads collectively responsible for end-to-end design, pre-assembly, build, installation, configuration, testing and turnkey delivery of cutting-edge image-based package tracking solutions at many of the largest automated e-commerce fulfillment and distribution facilities around the country.
You will spend roughly 50% of your time working closely with your team performing electro-mechanical equipment component pre-assembly, staging & factory acceptance testing locally at Catalyx’s manufacturing & testing facility and 50% of your time travelling with teams to various customers distribution/fulfillment facilities around the country to perform the final turnkey system installation, set-up and testing.
Any necessary training and guidance will be provided by the various Catalyx technical subject matter experts and engineering technical leads on your team. Your willingness and capability to apply the training principles and guidance will be critical to your success in this role. As a high performing Catalyx systems delivery engineer, you will have opportunities to progress into various technical project engineering & lead roles if you desire.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The candidate will be primarily responsible for the installation, commissioning and final handover of automation systems and solutions to customers. The candidate will independently perform a full range of standard work and apply problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations. This role can have a high degree of customer interface, and is expected to provide a high level of customer service and satisfaction. Typical industry applications include:
-Parcel and pallet conveyors
-Sorters
-In-motion scales
-Dimensioners
-Label printer/applicators
-Scanners and sensors
-PLC controls software
Tasks Include:
-Plan and perform on-site installation, startup, testing, and troubleshooting of materials, components, and systems of complex design;
-Review and approve the operational quality of automation equipment and systems, and instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system which was installed;
-Serve as the company's first point of contact for the customer on site technical matters for assigned projects;
-Develop, as required, appropriate on-site modifications/optimizations to electrical, optical and/or mechanical systems to deliver satisfactory solution performance, while remaining within the initially designed solution specifications and engineering drawings;
-Provide timely, detailed, and accurate reports on service work performed, product performance, and qualification test results;
-Demonstrate safety consciousness in equipment handling, electrical and electronic procedures, and the unique situations encountered at diverse work sites;
-Analyze existing development or manufacturing procedures and suggest improvement;
-Create mechatronic design documents for parts, assemblies, or finished products;
-Implement and test design solutions;
-Maintain technical project files;
-Provide consultation or training on topics such as mechatronics or automated control.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields. Completion of equivalent technical training courses and professional certification and/or previous work experience will also be considered;
- Availability to work evening and weekend hours or varying work patterns depending on project/market needs;
- Ability to be on-call and respond to customer emergencies during site deployments. Frequent overnights, 50-75% of the time are common depending on project site schedules and location of the role;
- Possession of a valid driver's license that is in good standing.
