Here at sweetgreen's Automation Team we're working to integrate our meal assembly automation - the Infinite Kitchen - into new and existing restaurants. Our goals are to improve the daily routines for our restaurant staff, optimize their workflows, and enable an outstanding customer experience.
As sweetgreen expands its footprint of automated kitchens, we are looking for a Field Technician II to install and maintain our automation equipment across the country.

This is a full time hourly role, with an up to 75% travel time expectancy and frequent overtime. Travel expenses and travel time are fully compensated. Great benefits including health insurance (with dental and vision), mileage reimbursement, 401k plan, and free meals!
Hourly Rate: $28-33
Expected Salary, including frequent overtime: $80k-100k
What you will do:
- Lead small teams of technicians as we deploy our automation equipment, the Infinite Kitchen in new and existing sweetgreen restaurants across the US.
- Learn every step of installing an Infinite Kitchen in a restaurant
- Coach technicians, training them to become future deployment leaders
- Delegate tasks, and perform many tasks yourself
- Maintain deployment timelines, managing through construction hurdles
- Ensure safe working environments
- Service & maintain our Infinite Kitchens in the field, train other technicians as you do so
- Take ultimate problem solving ownership in the field, while reaching out to relevant team members for more information or support as needed
- Help build and sustain workflows and systems to support the team as it grows, such as maintaining inventory systems, setting up workstations in the lab, creating and updating documentation for deployments, ect.
- Perform other SG automation technician tasks when not traveling. This may include but not limited to:
- Receiving and organizing parts as they are purchased by engineering or returned from the worksite
- Helping keep inventory of spare and production parts
- Assembly of prototypes or restaurant automation modules
- Lab and office housekeeping
Who you are:
- 2 or more years of related work experience, such as: Service Technician, Assembly Technician, Robotics Technician, Mechanic, Plumber, IT, HVAC, ect.
- Experience with leadership, ideally with leading a small team
- Flexible to travel and work around restaurant operating hours, including dealing with unexpected issues. Available to be on-call during some holidays & weekends.
- Flexible to work overtime during travel weeks
- Proficient in trouble shooting complex systems (mechanical, pneumatic, plumbing, electrical, etc)
- Able to precisely follow layout mechanical and electrical drawings and construction blueprints used in the installation of equipment.
- Proficient in digital tools such as google docs and sheets, able to learn new software tools quickly such as Service Channel for work orders or inventory
- Neat and organized, and great attention to documentation
- Excited about being part of a new and fast growing industry.
- Available to regularly travel in all 50 states (up to 75% of the time), by use of plane and train
- Capable of managing equipment installation entailing use of hand tools, power tools, Volt/Ohm Meter, climbing, bending, and stooping.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of communicating clearly in English.
